Seborrheic Dermatitis

I’ve found a UK cetaphil supplier online.
I have only ordered it yesterday so i don’t know what the delivery or
product is like.

Cutanix worked great for me but I found out it is no longer
manufactured. Does anyone know of a good replacement?

Hey guys,

One side of my nose has some red and a tiny bit scaly skin where the
nose meets the rest of the face, as well as a little below the
nostril. On the other side, the actual nose as well as the nose/face
junction and below the nose is also red. However, it never itches and
does not flake. it is just darker reddish/purplish skin.

Do you guys think this is necessarily seborrheic dermatitis, given no
flakes or itching? I’ve had it for many years and have tried steroid
cream and nizoral to no avail. I’m now trying ACV but have no seen
results in the first week yet. If it’s not SD, I fear I’ve been
sending all these chemicals to the area for no reason.

hi everybody ! I’ve been trying to get xolegel in england but to no
avail. I’m reading good reports about it and am hoping that it’s
effectiveness over nizoral cream is due to the fact that it doesn’t
contain water . I suffer from sebderm in my eyebrows almost
constantly for 25 years and would love a break from this
embarrassing condition ,but lately the lull in scaling activity only
seems to last days before i’m putting something on my eyebrows
(starflower oil ,acvwm ,nizoral ,dactakort ,elidel ) ,all to no
avail ,and some seeming to aggravate the condition .
I contacted barrier therapeutics in belgium (xolegel’s
manufacturers )
who informed me that as yet it wasn’t available in the uk . Only in
usa and the only way to get it was to have someone get it on
prescription over there and send it to me ! how frustrating !!
Anyway ,I’d pursue this route if I got some positive response from

Hey folks!

After 8 years of suffering my skin feels the best i can ever remember.
For the last 2 years since i gave up steroids I’ve been using cider
vinegar - applied every 2-3 days (causing short term clearing, but also
short term burning). I haven’t, however, used it now for 6 days and my
skin still doesn’t feel tight or piffy like it should! I’m managing to
contain my excitement - other suffers will probably have experienced
false horizons as have I over the years. Anyway I’m simply gonna be
putting a few glugs of cider vinegar in my washing water tonight so
that i’m not coming to a complete full stop. I’ll post with an update
soon.

Seb derm is just another form of psoriasis. You have to have a
genetic mutation in a gene that controls sebum production to get seb
derm thus another pathway for psoriasis. While doctors don’t know the
exact gene it is because there are multiple genes invovled in what
controls it. I can almost guarantee that when theres a cure for
psoriasis there will be one for seb derm but you will be left with
oily skin. Most people "think" that seb derm is disease caused by a
fungus which isn’t entirely untrue. Its malfunctioning T-cells
attacking the waste left by the fungus. People with Seb derm also
probably didn’t know that the compisition of sebum is modified giving
the fungus an ideal place to grow and leave more waste. Also seb derm
can be caused by fungal infections. Its not the infection that causes
seb derm its the drugs that the doctors give you that does.

Hi everybody,

Thanks for having this group here. I’ve suffered from SD for all of
my adult life and have tried many things. Fortunately it’s not one
of the more severe cases, but it’s annoying. What have people
tried? I am curious as to how long you experiment with something
before it either works, or you judge it to be useless.

I’ve tried:

Reishi (internally 2 months)

Oil of oregano(diluted with olive oil, topically, two weeks)

Howdy…I’m wondering what people are using for a facial cleanser
now. Right now I’m using a St. Ives cleanser with salicylic acid,
which was initially helpful but is now just too drying and makes my
skin flake. On the other end of the spectrum, cetaphil made my skin
softer (which was initially helpful) but ended up breaking me out in
itchy bumps and making the redness worse. So, and this may apply to
many of us, finding the sweet spot between these extremes is the key,
especially since any moisturizer I’ve tried (i.e. every single one of
them) has made things worse. thanks for any input!

For anyone who’s interested, some layman’s science/conjecture below-

Moisturizers of any kind make things worse for me because essentially
they are feeding the fire, providing a great environment for the

im a 26 yr old female who has sd for about two yrs now. i want to
know how many people of color there are on here with sd? i am latina
and i think the fact that i have melanin makes for some slight
differences in my skin and that of a caucasians’. for one i have
experienced loss of color on the spots where my sd is on my face and
elbows in particular. i have also found that some of the over the
counter lotions my dermatologist suggested simply didnt work for me,
but through the suggestions of people i knew with eczema who were also
of color they suggested shea butter and i found that pure shea butter
and lotions rich in shea butter really help. my dandruff is what
really bothers me i get to the point where i want to shave my head.
like right now for instance my scalp is irritating me, i have very
little flaking because i just finished my regimen of 2% pyrithione
zinc shampoo everyday, 2% selenium sulfide shampoo twice a week, and
kenalog spray twice day. it was suggested to me by many of my african

Has anyone tried Xolegel for their seb derm? I have rosacea, too, and
my understanding is that this new drug is supposed to not be very
irritating to rosacea while it helps seb derm.
