Hey
I’ve had dermatitis for a few years (I’m 19/male). Last year my
dermatologist gave me a handful of free samples of Cutivate.
I have dermatitis all over my scalp, naso-labial folds, chin,
eyebrows, and nose. Cutivate did wonders for my face.
However, as soon as I ran out (a few days ago) the worst flare up EVER
has taken over my face. It’s terrible. My face is constantly
stinging.
Now, I have an appointment with the dermatologist. Should I continue
with the Cutivate, which is a corticosteroid? I’ve read that
prolonged use should be avoided. What should I ask for?
Also, I wash twice a day with Cetaphil and even THAT stings my face
and causes irritation. Any other suggestions for VERY gentle cleansers?
I also have terrible acne on my forehead.
As for the dermatitis on my scalp, I just try to wash alot. Tea Tree
Oil seemed to help (depending on the brand). Any suggestions for
that? Or other shampoos?
I’m just looking for something that really works. Right now my SD is
really embarrassing.

Gday
Sounds like you’re having a bad time of it at the moment. I would
suggest keeping off the roids completely atleast until you’ve seen
the specialist (and preferably for good). Try to keep positive and
concentrate on keeping a skin diary ahead of the appointment.

Thanks! Do you know I can get those products? ZNP bars seem popular
here. I just got some selsun blue because I read selenium sulfide
helps some people. What exactly do ketoconazole and zinc pyrithione do?
Thanks,
Kevin

Ketoconazole is an anti fungal agent. Pyrithione zinc and
selenium sulfide are anti microbial agents. Actually,
pyrithione zinc is normally called a biocide, because it is
deadly, if the exposure is high enough. Very effective, but
must be used with care.
