Oracea
Hi Guys, I wanted to give a follow up post about my
positive experience with the new Rosacea drug called
Oracea. I have had Seb Derm for several years and
Rosacea for about 2 years. I was prescribed Oracea a
couple months ago for a bad Rosacea flare and for some
unknown and unexpected reason it completely cleared up
my SD.
I can’t explain it, but it happened. It helped my
Rosacea, cleared some of the acne but has not stopped
the flushing. When I realized after a few weeks that
my SD symptoms had mysteriously disappeared I couldn’t
believe it, but it’s a fact. At the time I began the
Oracea in December my SD was raging out of control.
The flaking around my nose is completely gone and has
been since early January. All the itching and flaking
around in eyebrows and hairline are gone too. The
only remnants of SD I still see on my face is that the
area around my eyebrows is still sort of red a a bit
swollen looking, but that shows up more so with my
Rosacea flushes. I’m afraid to speak too soon, but I
believe my eyebrows are even growing back a little at
a time! Oracea is a new drug on the market that is a
time released 40 mg doxy. They think that the low
constant dose of antibiotic being released treats the
inflammation cycle in the body and does not go to the
level required to fight infection, therefor no chance
of becoming antibiotic resistant.
Others on the Rosacea board have also said they have
had improvement in their SD from Oracea, so it’s not
just me. Fortunately my insurance covered it, and I
got a $35 rebate online from the Oracea website which
is good for all refills through July, so my out of
pocket will only be $10 till then. Just thought I
would share this good news.

I have had similar success with Oracea. Its only been about 5 months
but results for both rosacea and SD have been excellent.
