Licorice solution
Hi freinds,
Here’s a snippet: "Two percent licorice topical gel was more effective than 1%
in reducing the scores for erythema, oedema and itching over two weeks (p<0.05).
The results showed that licorice extract could be considered as an effective
agent for treatment of atopic dermatitis."
So I concocted a simple solution with 2% licorice, 30% propylene glycol, and 2%
glycerin, in a base of distilled water. I’ve applied it to my face daily in the
evening for the last twenty-two days. It seems to work suprisingly well. The
first week of January, my seb derm flared up, especially my forhead. Now,
thankfully, it has calmed down and is almost cleared. I’m going to continue with
daily applications for another seven days, then I’ll drop down to two or three
applications per week to see how it goes.
Here’s my regimen:
Wash face twice daily with glycerin and cool water. This is big help for me
since soaps and clenasers really dry my skin and lead to itching and irritation.
Apply 2% licorice solution each evening before retiring.
Apply a few drops of glycerin to face to moisturize skin. It’s inexpensive and
works very well.
