Hello fellow Sufferers

I all, I am new to the group, and I just wanted to share with you
my story. I first got SD when I was 18, I always had oily skin as a
young teenager and maybe that is what caused it to start. In the
beginning it was just a little red dry sport on the side of my nose,
soon becoming larger, then on the other side of my nose. The first
doctor I saw prescribed hydrocortisone I think just 1%, but he
neglected to tell me that I shouldnt use it for a long term
solution. I used it for like 2 years on and off. Of course It got
worse all of a sudden, and went to another doctor who told me to stop
using the steriod on my face, and told me of the side effects. So he
prescribed Nizoral shampoo and the Ketconazole cream, which again
worked real well at first. Then It got worse, moving to my chin,
forehead, sideburn area, and of course the side of the nose where it
seems to be the worst and most persistent. Well I am 27 now and I
have tried everything, the thing is almost everything seems to work

at first but eventually it will stop working, and actually make the
SD worse. Now I dont have to much problem with dryness as much as I
do with the redness, right now I use Elidel which seems to help
sometimes, I also take 200mg Ketconazole pills. Sometimes I will go
away completley for like a month or something and I try to enjoy
that "free" time when I have it. I have already read some posts
about things I havent tried so I will give that a try. Also has
anyone really had success with the low carb, no sugar diet. Also for
those of you that havent tried it, the thing that worked the best for
me was sulfacetamide 10%, My face was clear for like 7 months and I
mean clear like I never had SD, I could actually go swimming with my
son, It was great. Now I cant even use the stuff, but I am thankful
for the 7 months it gave me. Okay this is getting to long. Thank
you for listening. I will be praying for all of you.

    Hey Tony

Im 27 too - and you’re right: When I first got this i was greasy -
now it just gets so so dry and piffy. Just feels uncomfortable and
makes me look completely washed out. I think its hard to enjoy
the ‘free’ time cos i just wana be stable rather than up one minute
    and down the next.

I wish there was a bit more info about the differences between dry
and greasy. Do you keep a skin diary? I keep one of how often i use
cider vinegar on my face and put little notes in about how it feels.
I’ve done this pretty much on and off since i was 19 (fist of all it
was steroids / moisturisers, then elidel / protopic, teh this, and
that and a bit of this again).
Would people be willing to keep a diary on the calendar?

I would if others thought it could help and were also able to share.
