This really sucks
As anyone in this groups knows I wouldn’t want to impeach this really
awful disease one anyone. I wouldn’t consider it a "bad" disease as
it won’t kill you. This has been really staggering on my social life
as it comes to a dull stop. I just generally avoid human contact as
much as I can because they are like whats on your face (you know thats
what there thinking). It has gotten progressively worse since I got
it. It started as one patch on my left cheeks. Now it’s on my pretty
much my whole face, nose, both cheeks, chin, lips, ears, nose, in
between eyebrows. I’ve only had this for a year and a half and I look
at pictures at people with it almost all over there bodies it gets me
really depressed because I think thats probably going to happen to me
sooner or later. After I wash my face about 1 - 2 hrs its really
greasy again, People ask me if I’m sweating I just say yeah, its
better then telling ‘em its greasy. I’ve been seriously thinking
about taking accutane as It would turn my skin to normal sebum
production and that would be a major self esteem booster. I do
believe it has something to do with diet but I haven’t been able to
make a correlation between what makes it better or not. As I tried
the vinegar and there magical diet it just made my face really red.
And after using it for a month and following the diet there was no
improvement. For me the best thing that worked was nizoral but it
lost its effectiveness. I also got some new antifungal creams to try
are ciclopiroxamine (loprox) and terbinafine (lamisil) hopefully these
will help. I did use steriod creams at first very heavily since I
didn’t know what it was and neither did my doctor as this what he
prescribed. From personal experience I do believe steriod creams do
to some extent spread your sd. Steriod creams are purely garbage but
they do relieve symptons quite quickly, actually the best remission I
got initially was steriod creams for a long time. As I said before
when I first got it I used the steriod creams 5wks to be exact. I
never had the steriod rebound as I should’ve. Right after I was off
steriods I started using nizoral so maybe thats why I had no rebound
effect. In my believe are best arsenal is antifungals and the sun
since it inhibits fungal growth on the skin. There are some potential
new drugs in the pipeline that will help this so maybe I have some
hope in the future for a normal life. This disease I would think is
the worst for your self esteem as its turning me into a hermit. For
people that suffer with it I feel for ya and you know exactly what I’m
talking about.

Sorry to hear you’re having so many problems with seb derm. I can
totally relate… it’s VERY frustrating when nothing seems to work.
I agree with you regarding anti-fungals. The best thing that’s worked
for me is ZNP bar - it’s a soap that contains pyrithione zinc, the
same ingredient in Head & Shoulders dandruff shampoos. It does a
really good job on the flaking and grease - maybe too good because it
can be pretty drying. You might need a gentle moisturizer (although
if grease is really a problem for you, maybe not. Your call.)
For me ZNP has worked better than anti-fungal creams, steroids, etc.
ZNP is non-prescription but you might have to ask your pharmacist to
order it for you. It’s about $5 a bar but it lasts for months.
This was the first thing my dermatologist recommended for me (years
ago) and it is still the most effective thing I’ve tried. Not a total
cure, but it really makes the symptoms more manageable.
Good luck!

info i get in the internet
Skin rashes, eczema, acne, adult acne, skin blotches, rosacea the
red mask of yeast ( a red rash in the area of the face or neck);
where do these rashes come from, why do they occur?
Well, in my opinion, it all stems from removing toxins from your
system. You see, the liver is the largest organ in your body…
Now, why would you ask, is this person talking about the liver when
I am here because of my skin? Well… they are interrelated you
see. The liver is a filter and one of its major functions is to
remove toxins from our system. But the backup filter is the skin!
———————————————————————
———–
The National Digestive Diseases Information Clearinghouse states:
"The liver, the largest organ in the body, is essential in keeping
the body functioning properly. It removes or neutralizes poisons
from the blood, produces immune agents to control infection, and
removes germs and bacteria from the blood. It makes proteins that
regulate blood clotting and produces bile to help absorb fats and
fat-soluble vitamins. You cannot live without a functioning liver."
———————————————————————
———–
As you can see, the liver is a very important organ. However, it
can be overworked. If there are too many toxins in your system, the
liver’s first order of business is to preserve the body and so it
must deal with the poisons in your bloodstream. If there are too
many poisons, however, there is a backup system and that backup
system is "the skin" <ah ha - she makes her point>. When you have
an undue amount of toxins in your system; to such a degree that the
liver is overburdened, the skin kicks in and trys to "help" by
eliminating toxins, too. This assistance by the skin takes the form
of, you guessed it, pimples, skin rashes, eczema, acne, etc.
Now… that is all well and good, but where are these toxins coming
from?
Bear with me here… Have you ever, even once, taken antibiotics,
corti-steroids like prednisone, birth control pills, chemotherapy or
oral acne medications?
If you have, you may have a candida concern!

‘Science and Health With Keys to the Scriptures’ by Mary Baker Eddy is more
of a religion than anything else trying to put women in a higher perspective
involved in religion. I agree with your mumbo jumbo on a stress free life,
cool calm negative thoughts yes 100% i have seen in the past the less you
stress about it the better off it is but that book, nah thanks, bought it
read it, not for me. Left it in a hotel room in Japan, maybe someone else
can appreciate it

Hi Tony,
Sounds like you are the one who will definitely benefit from Buddhism.
Read up on it. Here is a quote on how mind works from Buddha’s
teaching:
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with an impure mind
And trouble will follow you
As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart.
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
As your shadow, unshakable.
"Look how he abused me and hurt me,
How he threw me down and robbed me."
Live with such thoughts and you live in hate.
"Look how he abused me and hurt me,
How he threw me down and robbed me."
Abandon such thoughts, and live in love.
In this world
Hate never yet dispelled hate.
Only love dispels hate.
This is the law,
Ancient and inexhaustible.
The highest medicine is Truth and Love. Rather than being bitter about
a physical problem, learn to steer away from it and stick with that
truth. All physical symptoms arises from the mind, just think, when you
are in deep sleep where is that symptom? If Mary Baker Eddy’s approach
is not for you, which I understand, then open up your wisdom to that of
the Buddha’s. Please go to website and look up on it, it can change you
perspective on life and make you wise and consequently lessen the burden
that we mortals carry around needlessly. It has helped me
TREMENDOUSLY!
I have a feeling that you will be totally intrigued.

Thankfully, one of the tenets of Buddhism is
non-proselytizing. It’s better not to discuss it
unless someone inquires. I appreciate that you care
for others and want to provide them with wisdom that
has helped you, but I think it’s best not to share
about Buddhism (or any religion for that matter)
without being asked. Thanks!

Just want to share the light out of compassion I guess. Not meant to
proselytize. I can sense Tony being the right person to taste that
wisdom that’s way I brought up Buddhism.
Buddha also taught about ‘Non-attachment to self view’. Views like
‘don’t proselytize’ can be carried to an extreme also. Let’s be aware.
Thanks for bringing it up.
