Thank you for all the info y'all provided! I had no idea. What a weird
thing. I guess there are always fanatics wanting to play the big frog
in someone's pond. :-) I like using cider vinegar for rinse, but only
25% diluted.

Seems like this group should have precedence when listed on the web.
Also, maybe there should be a warning somewhere, in sebderm.org or
something... where ever people post links.

Which reminds me, is there anyone who has a personal web page about
sebderm? Listing stuff that works, what doesn't work...

I figure maybe some dietary changes are in order for me. I used to
have this condition when young, then it pretty much cleared up but
last year, it came with a vengeance. I was worried I was getting
<!--more-->
rosacea! Ugh.

Glad to be here.

Hi!
Thanks for your message - and the update on shadowsurfer :) he was
really helpful.
I'm gonna stick with it for as long as is needed, basically because
I have exhausted every other treatment. Well apart from an
antifungal cream i read about a few posts back. I overused steroids
for 5 years and regret it immenseley.

I think that vinegar of the appley and cidery variety is good as it
kills the fungal inflammation. Ofcourse this is always gonna keep
coming back and for me, one treatment (drenching) lasts about 3
days. The only problem is that if you have pretty crap skin, its
gonna sting and burn. If you can mamnage the burns then you're home
free. I found that diluting the vinegar means that it has no benefit
atall and therefore unfortunately only full strength will do.
<!--more-->
Here's my routine (for information or inspiration):

*Drench face with vinegar before bed having not washed since the
morning. If you do this on monday nite, have a break til thurdsay
nite, then sunday nite, weds, sat.. etc (2 clear days to recover)
*Use a shallow cup with about 10 glugs of the stuff and your hands,
do it over the sink and allow it to dry (dab your eyelashes with a
hanky if you need to)
*use a beauty pad to wet your hair and neck but don't go mad and get
covered.
*wash morning and nite with a standard supermarket showergel (the
type that come in blue green or orange)
*no moisturisers apart from the lips if they get dry - as if you
have been burned the skin needs to flake off naturally.
*a couple of times a week i substitute showegel for nizoral shampoo
but ive never noticed this to have any real impact.

Ive used acv for 2 years and the burning has reduced in that time -
im hoping that one day it wont burn atall, just like it doesnt burn
any skin on my hands, scalp or anywhere else (where i dont have
problem skin). I would tell anyone to do as much research as
possible before trying it as I had a really bad experience when i
first started and looked like a burns victim.
****These are only my thoughts and Im not making a recommendation to
anybody. Im not a doctor or a vinegarologist****

ps if you're taking vinegar in water regularly just bear in mind the
possible effects on tooth enamel over time.

Hi Jon,
The only advantage that the ACVWM group has over this group, is the
groups name, and that's it.

Natural remedies are also discussed on this group along with
prescriptions, and over the counter products. But, that's not going
to happen on that other site!

The Bragg "Apple Cider Vinegar Miracle Health System" book, written
by Patricia Bragg, N.D.,Ph.D...has published remedies for skin
problems using organic ACV. If you want to use ACVWM properly on the
skin, simply read that section in the bragg family book.

Bottom line: Avoid quacks - go directly to the professionals.

-shadow surfer hasnt posted in well over a year and has dissapeared
from the acvm group his posts were also the inpriration for me to
sticking to the routines, he moved to indonesia my guess is the acvm
worked for him no doubt but eventually relapsed as it does with most
treatments,I read nearly all 3000+ posts on the acvm site and
counted only about 10 people that cleared using his routines and you
will find the moderator repeats these posts over and over again even
though these people are nowhere to be seen,in fact only half a dozen
people have reported back saying that they still use acvm and vouch
for its effectiveness.the moderator does not have sd so has no idea
what it is like ,the guinea pigs that have have trialled and errored
this treatment are his brother and friends who have never posted. He
will have you believe your condition has gotten worse because you
have used steroids in the past,Those that have rosacea as well he
will tell you its because of past steroid use, yet there are many
<!--more-->
who have never used any creams whatsoever who have just as bad sd
and rosacea. Its bad a enough suffering from this disease but here is
a guy telling you its your fault because you listened to the advice
of drs and derms.I take my hat of to the guy for devoting himself to
this but in my opinion the numbers just dont add up.If someones
prepared to make the sacrifices for a couple of months and report
back with some possitve results maybe I wont be so skeptical but for
me i'll try other more realistic natural approaches and enjoy my
xmas turkey this year.

That apple cider vinegar SD webside, is nothing more then bogus hype.
The moderator has no cure for you or for anyone else. It's nothing
more then a smoke and mirrors game.

Patricia Bragg, N.D.,Ph.D. lives a healthy lifestyle, and her books
can propertly teach you how to take control of your own health using
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar that is simple and easy to follow.

That said, in another post, I'll share a wonderful new product that
I've been using called "Hill Moisture Riser."

I started asking questions about various treatments and got jumped on
a bit, with people telling me all chemicals are evil, etc. The
moderator in particular is very passionate about this natural
treatment and will not tolerate discussions on any alternative
therapies or treatments. Honestly, the attitude reminded me of some
religious groups I've been a member of in the past, which I found a
bit odd. Needless to say I quit and joined here.

I think because of the way the search is set up and the way the group
is named/labeled, people (like me) are joining that group without
realizing it's an alternative remedy group. Really, a group like this
one should be your first stop - to get information on ALL available
treatments (including what your dermatologist has put you on). THEN,
if you decide you want to abandon the prescriptions and chemicals and
try a natural approach, you can join the alternative remedy group if
<!--more-->
you so desire.

Personally, I'm having decent success with pyrithione zinc, both in
good ol' Head & Shoulders shampoo (for scalp) and ZNP soap for my
face. I have a touch of rosacea too, so I won't be putting vinegar on
my face anytime soon.

Hi Leroy, I wonder if you could tell more about the "dark side"? I
tried to join a while back and they would not let me in. :-)

Anyways, what is their approach, and does it work?

Many thanks --
