Understanding Nutrition and diet

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

These are the following deficiencies that are represented with an
eczema flareup: beta carotene, zinc, selenium, essential fatty acids
(omega-3, omega-6, omega-9, GLA), quercetin, vitamin C, D, & E. Fiber
and magnesium deficiencies are usually represented as well. The best
way to address these deficiencies is through whole food consumption.
Should you decide to supplement these deficiencies by other means
then *********my suggestion is that you limit it to a good whole food
multivitamin, daily fiber (from green vegetables), and omega-3 cod
liver oil etc.*********

The beta carotene, zinc and selenium boost the immune health. The
overactive response that the doctors categorize eczema sufferers as
having is not due to a healthy or strong immune system; but rather,
due to an out of balance/unhealthy immune system. As a result of the
immune systems weaknesses it becomes overwhelmed by toxins that your

New Member Story

Thursday, December 28th, 2006

Hello All,

I saw the call for new members to speak up so here I go. A little
more than a year ago, seemingly out of the blue my skin got super dry
and my hair extremely brittle. It was a time of extreme emotional
stress, so the constant itching and gross hair texture didn’t help
matters. I had been an avid user of the trendy Kiehl’s line of
products. It was driving me crazy that these expensive but heretofore
extremely helpful products seemed to only make me itch more and more.
Head and shoulders only exacerbated the hair issue, which was lovely.

I moved cities that summer and the problem definitely didn’t improve.
I was shuttling between my father’s apartment in the city and my
mother’s beach house. When I’d walk through the threshold of my
father’s apartment it was if my face knew to light up like a christmas

Ray’s Story of Steroid Induced SD

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

My name is Ray, I am 38 years old and have been dealing with Steroid
induced SD/Rosacea since May’04.

I consider myself a relatively healthy person. I do yoga and Pilates
at least 4 times a week in addition to playing tennis, swimming and
occasional weight lifting. I eat very strict from Sunday to Thursday
and cut loose on the weekends….margaritas/Mexican food.

During May of ‘04 I began to swim on a regular basis. I noticed that
the goggles were giving me a red bump on my upper cheek below my
eye. I called my derm and she told me to put some steroid cream on
it. I told her I had some Aclovate left over from a rash I had on my
elbow several months earlier which she approved. After a month of
applying the steroid, the bump turned into two bumps. This time I
went to the derm but my derm was unavailable so I saw her partner.

New to group…

Thursday, December 21st, 2006

Hey everyone I am an 18 year old male who has suffered from SD one my
face area right around my nose and cheeks for a little under 5 years
and in that time ive beeen through 2 dermatoglists and countless
medicines. Currently I apply Oxistat loition and then apply Protopic
over it. I do this twice a day, once before I go to bed and then once
afteer I take a shower in the am. The problem with this is that if i
miss one time (ex. don’t ut it on before I go to sleep), then the skin
gets very dry very fast. You could imagine how this could cause a
problem. I’ve been on these medicines for a year and a half, and while
it hasn’t gotten any worse save for a few flare ups, it doesn’t
reallyseem to be getting any better. Whenever the skns starts to get
bad, I clean it with Cetaphil. Anyways, if anyone could give me some
advice as to wether I am using the reight medicines and whatnot, it
would be really great!

Steroid Cure and My Terrible Doctors

Monday, December 18th, 2006

That nearly druged me to death. A 12 year life of steroid creams,
antibiotics, depression drugs etc. all to treat Seborrhea etc.. You
get the point. Still using steroid creams? This is a great commentary
by Mike Adams who has written hundreds of articles on the subject of
drugs for every know problem of the human body. Thank god, I’m
happily drug free and able to share my success with you all. This
article is a bit long, funny so don’t skim it.
