New User
Hi,
I am a new user to this group. I have suffered with SD since my late
teens, it started in my hair as dandruff (and tried Head and
Shoulders - didn’t work). In my early to mid-20s I went to see a
dermatologist who started me on 2% hydro-cortizone and then dropped
down to 1%.
I am now 45 and still use 1% HC cream on my face and (when I have my
hair cropped) my scalp. I also occasionally have to use the cream on
chaest and back, but in the last 5 years hardly ever. In the last 5
years I have also suffered around my perianal region.
Reading some of the posts I have browsed I wonder if my regime is
right for me. I don’t consider I have bad SD, but if I forget to use
HC my skin feels as though it is very dry and "stretched" across my
face. I am concerned about the thinning of the skin.
I also try different shampoos on my scalp, "Capasal" (prescribed in
UK by my doctor) stopped working after a few years. I currently use
Nizoral, which I bought from Walmart on one of our trips to the US.
In the past I have also used a sunbed, and have sunbathed (something
I don’t do for a tan as I don’t really want to spend valuable life
time bbq’ing my skin).
I would appreciate any simple ideas I can try, especially if it means
I can stop the flaky dandruff, and cut out, or cut down the use of HC
cream.
Thanks for reading
Mick
