Medicine Rebound
I have been reading about an interesting concept in some of the forum
groups, specifically dealing with a rebound effect from using
medicines. People have claimed that their skin condition has worsened
precisely because of what initially was supposed to help them.
Apparently, whatever treatment they’ve been on (and there were various
ones I read about, ranging from steroids to non-steroids like Elidel
and Protopic)somehow ‘poison’ the skin. After the individual stopped
using them there was a ‘rebound effect’ where the skin reacted to what
they had been applying, almost in a violent fashion. I don’t know if
that’s because the skin becomes dependent on the medicine and then
when it’s stopped the seb derm comes back in full force, but this time
10 times worse. Has anyone experienced or heard of such a phenomenon?
