about me…

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

I have had the "sebderm" condition for over 7 years now. It started
before I turned 40 with itching patches on my scalp that drove me
crazy. I went to a dermatologist who did a biopsy and gave the
diagnosis of sebderm and over the next 7 years I was prescribed many,
many treatments. I have probably been on 30 different Rx cremes,
ointments and shampoos. I have gone for steroid injections directly
into the sites-weekly- for over six months. Then, my last treatment,my
final option, was to have the affected sites of my scalp surgically
removed. The removed portions were analyzed and they told me that it
was "scar tissue" that had been removed. I have been on every diet-
taken every road to try to find some relief from this condition. I
found this group today and felt hope knowing there are people with a
similar condition. I don’t know what else to do, or try to treat this-
but hope some of you will help me with your suggestions. Thanks.

Hi people i’ll tell u my story..
I have sebderm for a year..i didnt knew what was it so i didnt really
payed much attention…but it gotted worse so i decided to go to a derm
about it.Sebderm was his diagnosis and he gave me a shampoo and Elidel
to use for a month.By the way my prob is red patches and a lot of
itching out of nowhere leaving a red dot if i wont touch it…general
redness mostly on my cheeks…and flushing in several circumstances. The
first 2 weeks i had amazing resaults!!!No more itching no more red
dots..and the redness to my cheeks subsided a lot,Only the flushes were
on sometimes but no so often! After 20 days…i dont know what
happened…i think Elidel stopped working or something….all the
symptoms are back…is there a chance Elidel to stop working after some
time?Anyone had that kind of expierience?

A little help

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

Hello! I am new here and just looking for some info. My 10 year old
daughter was diag with SD two years ago. She is currently using loprox
shampoo 3x per week and occassionally using Fluocinonide topical
soulution. Her condition has never really gotten better and most
recently has gotten much worse. I took her back to the derm 6 months
ago and he acted like I was wasting his time. He reminded me that
there is no cure and basically said we had to deal with it. I asked
about changing shampoo, etc and he said what we are using is the best
choice. I want to find something that can hopefully help her situation
improve. She has it only on her scalp. The flakeness, dandruff and
itching are the big things that we are trying to control. Any
suggestions as far as shampoos, products or anything else would be
greatly appreciated! Thanks, Julie

Celexa

Wednesday, August 23rd, 2006

Hi,

I have read on previous posts that some medication can cause SD to
become worse. Does anyone know about the anti-deprssant drug Celexa?
My doctor wants to put me on this but I hate to take anything unless I
have to. Thanks in advance, Rob.

anyone not have symptoms of sebderm for a time?

Monday, August 21st, 2006

thanks for the info rob. do elidel and protopic only work for the
face? just curious, because my scalp has gotten really bad.
has anyone here gotten this stuff under control so that they aren’t
exhibiting symptoms for a while? i have had this for about 3 years now
and it has never gone away, even for a short time.

also wondering if red itchy bumps on face are acne or sebderm… does
anyone know? sorry that i have so many questions, but i have been
trying to deal with this alone and it’s such a relief to find others
with info and help.
really appreciate this group and what it does. :)

Has anyone used hair dye while having seborrea? My scalp has become
very oily and my hair gets oily. I have to shampoo at least every 2
days. Sometimes every day. Want to redo the coloring since itis
faded. Dont know if coloring will make it worse. Mine just started
about 2 months ago. anyone else color their hair while having this??
Thanks

Hello all,
i had found a cure for this terrible skin condition on my
face; about a year off clear skin. This was due to the
much "despised" moderator from the other group. I had bright red,
flaky, ugly face for as long as i know but i was fortunate to find
that group where the moderator gave me advices and help in my dire
time of need. I am very grateful to him. I was unable to post at his
group for a long time now due to my travelling work.

All i wish to convey is that he is a good person
eventhough he may have "rudely" banned many of you guys from his
group. Please understand that it is not easy to look after the group
for a few years without suffering from burningout. I guess he was
frustrated when he seemed like the only few people helping all those
diagnosed with sd( you know people usually won’t post after they
(more…)

elidel????

Tuesday, August 15th, 2006

Chris, I am curious to know how you are progressing with elidel? I am
going great guns and went to the dietician who has altered my diet, I
just need to cut down on my alcohol intake. I have about 4 beers a day
in which she wants to cut down to one.

I am very interested in your progress.

The itch or the redness?

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

I was wondering what members hated more with thier SD, tHE CONSTANT
ITCHING OR THE REDNESS/FLAKING? I know that eevrything about SD is
bad, but I was curious. For me personally it’s the itching.
