New to group AND to SD (hey..it hurts!)

Hi. I just want to say hi and introduce myself. I am an rn in an er
and have in the past worked as the head nurse for one of the largest
allergy and asthma medical practices in the mid-west.. Never had a
skin problem. I think i had my only flare up of sd 5 yrs ago and it
was traumatic..all over my eyes and face..but it went away quickly
with ‘roids…now..it’s back. You would think i would have an
insiders knowledge into this red, burning , itchy junk..but i really
knew very little. I just started my second round of prednisone since
one of my eyes was almost swollen shut…3 of my ER docs were a
little stumped by it.. So, my type "A" personality kicked in and
boy, there’s a ton of info on the web…about 90% non-medical and
kinda hokey. I am glad i ran across this group so i can get some
ideas. After one day of research…i have a plan!! (I’m thinking
you can all read this and smirk on how nieve (ok i know i didn’t
spell that right but you know what i mean) i am!! i know i sound

a tad optimistic..((smile))…) I am starting a low to no yeast
diet tomorrow. although the yeast overgrowth associated with sd is
not canidida albicans..but p. ovuale (messezia)..there may be
something to it. Also, I am going to wash my hair everyday with
alternating shampoos ..using the nizoral on the second
day…alternating with descalers of salicylic acid, (nizoral) then
coal tar (nizoral)etc. Then i got ketoconazole cream for the patches
on my face…gonna use that twice a day. Since there may be a IgE
mediated allergic component, i am going to use the short course of
prednisone to treat the inflammatory process, along with twice a day
rantidine (zantac which is a stomach acid reducer but is also
actually an antihistamine) and benadryl to help me sleep since i
can’t have wine on the no-yeast diet (that just aint right!)…..i
use the above knowing that this is only providing symptomatic relief
of the inflammation and itch (call me crazy..i like being able to
see using both my eyes!) I was reading, i think it was Jay? about
the apple cider vinegar with the mother in it..which is yeast isn’t
it?? although vinegar should provide an acidic envirnoment to
inhibit yeast..i would think that distilled would make more
sense ..but since i look like a little strange right now…i do not
want to smell strange too…kinda like an olive garden salad!
ok…so whatya think. I think the main goals are to wash once to
twice daily to remove body oils..avoid any moisturizers that contain
fats or oils so as not to feed the yeast..and to grown my bang
really really long!! Let me know what ya think… i am so excited
to have a plan instead of feeling like this "invasion of the body
snatchers" stuff is overtaking me…. (can i hear a round of "I
will survive’?) Thanks…i look forward to your replies!!!!

    Hi Meesha,
For starters stay AWAY from fragrances. That goes for all face
washes, soaps, shampoos, rinses, lotions and creams. Since I have
both Psoriasis and Seborrheic Dermatitis, my recommendation are the
OTC products manufactured by the following company…

I also came across the following site (below) that you might want to
check out. I have not used any of their products, but I have use the
site above and the 100% all natural site listed last…

Finally, for 100% all natural products, I highly recommend the
following site (below) and their Aztec Clay Soap. I use it for
cleaning my face twice daily. It’s great for troubled skin. For

    babies, I highly recommend their fragrant-free shampoo…

I’ll look into those sites. Thanks a lot. I know that 1st hand
experience is the best teacher ..so as much as i read, you guys are
going to be able to help with the practical side of things. I am so
not looking forward to having this condition. It is a pain@!!!

I am not sure from you email if you are a male or female…lol.  But, if you are a female, like me, going on the pill and using low dose spironlactone ( 25 mgs every other night)  has completely cleared me up.  I have totally forgotten I have SD.  Once in a while my eyelids will act up and I soak them with warm salt water for about five to 10 minutes using the triple size cotton balls. Clears them up in a day or two.

If you are a man, vitamin B5 helps a lot.  You can look up the research on the web.

I know, I know,  using all these drugs sounds harsh, but so are steriods, which can lead to all kinds of problems.  But, I am so much happier, and my skin is clear.

Maybe this is all mind induced? The more we are obssessed with the SD
the more it seems to flare. Have you ever thought about the mind and
body connection? For those of you who are interested please read a
great book called ‘Science and Health with Keys to the Scriptures’ by
Mary Baker Eddy. Please read the last chapter called ‘Fruitage’. My
husband was cured of a severe disease after he read that. I thought to
share this succsess story with you all.

Have faith and patience knowing that the Mind is bigger than the small
mind…I believe we can just let it run its course if we are not so
    fearful about it.

Stress is definately a factor. Stress beats up your body, weakens
it and depletes essential vitamins and minerals necessary for normal
function. This leads to symptoms. It then can’t effectively break
    down toxins.
