Saltwater and other curiosities
I’ve heard some people bring up the topic of saltwater. Has anyone
found it beneficial in alleviating the symptoms of SD? I seem to
suffer from a very active nervous system. I tend to perspire a lot and
am frequently anxious. I guess my body is in some type of overdrive.
My dad has suggested I get a prescription for anxiety medication.
Maybe that would slow down my sebum production? I wash my face twice a
day to get the oil off. Once with ketoconazole shampoo in the morning,
and with cetaphil cleanser at night. I don’t see any positive results
though.

Chris,
Saltwater and sun did wonders for me. When I had seen my doctor for
treating my seb derm condition she also told me i had a very active nervous
system, so she treated me for that with adrenal support and magnesium. This
was during my first stages with her, she was a
chiropractor/kinsiologist/nutrionist.

I have seb derm on my face and scalp. Yes, my face always seems pretty
greasy. However, Dermatologists say that Cetaphil is probably the best
thing to use for washing your face as it is so extremely mild and
fragrance free.

Interesting. I find it makes my skin greasier and use Dermaphil. Dries
out my skin so that it is not greasy. I do not have seb derm on my
scalp, but on my face and behind my ears.
VERY FRUSTRATING!!

Chris,
The only reason Dermatologists recommend Cetaphil is because it’s sold
over the counter (OTC) and thus, available at most drug and grocery
stores. That does not make Cetaphil the best product to use, only the
fastest and easiest way to get a hold of any OTC product.
There are other choices. They are, 100% all natural fragrant free
products, and fragrant free products made especially for SD or those
with sensitive skin. Those products are available on the Internet.
