salacyic acid.

Thursday, June 29th, 2006

I was wondering if anybody had used salacycic acid on thier face for
seb derm? My dermo said that if Hydrozole or clonea does not work then
I should try salacycic acid. I was wondering what side effects does
this cream have and does it contain any steroids?

Apple Cider Qinegar Wash

How much does one dilute the ACV? I have been taking
it internally, don’t really notice any changes. Cool,
Calm & Collected seems to help some but I still have
redness, any help?

sweating and seb derm.

Tuesday, June 27th, 2006

Do you think that sweating irritates seb derm? I play a fair bit od
touch football and I find that I get a bit itchy after sweating a lot.
My Dermatologist said that the hotter months of the year can irritate
seb derm some what.

Support

Sunday, June 25th, 2006

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support.
Every day is so tough, and I just don’t think most people understand
the struggle. I should clarify that, when I say most people it refers
to those who don’t suffer from SD. For those of us in the minority who
have this affliction, we all know too well how depressing it can make
life. Thanks for being there.

STEROID CREAMS.

Thursday, June 22nd, 2006

At present I am on a low dose steroid cream HYDROZOLE which only has
1% Hydrocortizone in it. I am very worried though with long term use I
may get some unwanted side effects like thinning of the skin, stretch
marks, bruising etc… I have been on this cream on and off for about
6 months. I find it clears up the redness and inflamation, but I still
get an itchy face.

Has anybody else been on this cream and if so, have you noticed any
unwanted side effects?

I plan to ease myself off the cream and go to Clonea which is
basically an anti-fungal cream.

I just think that any streroid cream applied to the face, may cause
irreversable damage.

Meds

Wednesday, June 21st, 2006

Is there any medication that can control the sebaceous glads from so
much sebum production? It seems that would be the route to go in
helping control seb derm. Is anyone planning a doctor visit soon where
they could discuss this?

SD with Dry Skin

Tuesday, June 20th, 2006

Do many people in this group have dry skin? I hear a
lot about greasy skin, sounds a little like acne,
washing with dandruff shampoos, ect. My skin can
hardly handle soap and water. Anyone know of a good
moisturizer? Does the group feel cool, calm, ect does that?

fraxel - a cure for me

Sunday, June 18th, 2006

I have posted about this in the past, but over time my condition has
improved even more. My skin looks so good I actually get random
compliments on it from strangers. In case anyone has missed my past
posts, I had very severe sebderm — major redness, flaking, cracking,
even bleeding around the edges of my mouth. I got 3 Fraxel laser
treatments, and now I GLOW — and not in a "red" way :)
If anyone is interested in ditching all of the creams, herbs, vinegars,
mental punishment, dietary restrictions, etc. and trying something that
really alters your sebaceous glands, feel free to email me for more
info on my experience. Frankly, it hurt (only while I was being
zapped) and it was expensive ($3500 for 4 treatments), but it was
beyond worthwhile. If I start to backslide, I’ll be doing it again
without a second thought. However, at this point, it actually seems to
be getting better each day. In addition, no one believes me when I

Saltwater and other curiosities

Thursday, June 15th, 2006

I’ve heard some people bring up the topic of saltwater. Has anyone
found it beneficial in alleviating the symptoms of SD? I seem to
suffer from a very active nervous system. I tend to perspire a lot and
am frequently anxious. I guess my body is in some type of overdrive.
My dad has suggested I get a prescription for anxiety medication.
Maybe that would slow down my sebum production? I wash my face twice a
day to get the oil off. Once with ketoconazole shampoo in the morning,
and with cetaphil cleanser at night. I don’t see any positive results
though.
