Just came down with SD

Hi all,
I’m 42 yrs old, and just came down with SD. I’ve had dandruff for
years, but during a recent period of extreme stress (possible
divorce) I had an attack of SD that began in my mustache, and on the
sides and bridge of my nose. I work in an office, so I was extremely
embarrassed by it. Even thought of calling in sick one day, which I
cannot afford to do. I also have tiny pimples on my scalp along with
it, which itch, but when popped, the itching stops. Some of them
seem to have a tiny granule inside them. Not sure what these are.
I don’t know if I had cradle cap as a baby, as both my folks are
gone, and I can’t ask. The derm doctor I went to was not real
talkative, so I didn’t learn much. I have an appt with another Dr.
tomorrow for a second opinion. I was prescribed Demoxycilin in 100
mg tablets alternating two every other day. He also gave me
Fluocinolone Acetonide Topical Solution USP, 0.01%, which is a

lotion to spread on the affected area like twice a day. This was 3
wks ago. I’ve found that I am improving, but if I miss even one dose
of either of the above, the SD is right back with a vengeance. Am I
going to have to do this treatment the rest of my LIFE? If so, I’m
afraid I’m going to have to get on antidrepresents, because I’m
already experiencing depression (and have been prone my whole life).
Still, I’m worried about being too embarrassed to go to work in the
future if I have a bad flare up.
Thanks so much for your feedback, which is most appreciated. I wish
you all only the very best.

I’m new to this, but from what I’m reading, antibiotics would not
directly combat the fungus that causes seb derm, and could possibly
    make things worse.

I’d be really curious to hear from folks who have been prescribed
doxycycline (or other antibiotics) whether your doctor gave an
explanation of why the antibiotic is thought to help with seb derm.

I was given doxycycline to treat Blepharitis which I
believe is linked to seb derm. So far I’ve been on the
medication for 3 months and the blepharitis still
    flares up on occasion.
