Makeup tips.

Tuesday, March 7th, 2006

Hi,

My girlfriend has SD and has very dry/flaky skin. She is very
depressed because she can not find a make-up cover up that does not
make the dry skin look worse. I think she looks great but any advice
would be much appreciated. Thanks, Robert.

b complex vitamins are helping me a lot

I haven’t posted for a couple of months because my skin has improved so
much. I’ve been doing a couple of different things (including laser),
so it’s hard to isolate which is helping most, but I believe I’m
getting results from the B vitamins I’m taking. I am taking a very low
dose — I had to really look since most offer 1000% of what you need
and more — which can cause everything from nausea to seizures to
permanent nerve damage. My flares are now minimal, short, and almost
without redness or irritation, just a little flaking for a day or two
each month. For those who haven’t tried this, give it a shot! It’s
cheap, harmless, and just might help you.

I’m also using a new cream from Clinique called Redness Relief Cream.
It’s $75 a pop, and I blow through it, but I think it is part of the
reason I’m not red anymore.

Guys,

First time on site, great to read your different treatments. I’ve for
over at least 4 years had SD on the face in the usual areas. Ive
tried
many a treatment. Im currently using Elidel once a day and hydrozole
in
the morning. It sort of works but not as well as I would like. Elidel
was great when I first starting using it, but Im not too keen on
continuing with these chemicals. I’ve read a lot of you mention apple
cider vinegar. Does any have more info on this, Im from australia so
I
doubt we have the braggs brand. Is this the stuff you drink or is it
something else. Any info would be tip top.

I think it would be helpful for all those who post in the group to
define what you mean when discussing ‘flare ups’? Is it a rash,
flaking, etc. that you are dealing with? With each case of SD being
different and so many various treatments, it would be helpful to know
what works for something like redness as opposed to what works for
flaking.

I was briefly a member of this group in 2003, and have just
rejoined: wanted to reintroduce myself and give you an update.

From age 18 to the present, I have had seborrheic dermatitis:
only on my scalp, in my naval, and behind my ears.
It takes the form of scales that build
up: if I let them build up they can become quite thick and hard to
remove.

I soften the scales and remove them: using a combination of Burt’s
Bees banana hand cream, and Scalpicin (the one with salicylic acid).

I use Denorex shampoo (with salicylic acid) though it doesnt’ seem
to do any good.
