Theories

Thursday, March 30th, 2006

In 1945, JR Allison found that there was a link between the lack of
HCL and skin diseases such as Acne Rosacea, Alopecia, Avitaminosis,
Eczema, Lupus Erythematos, Psoriasis, Seborrheic dermatitis, Staph
infection, Urticaria and Vitiligo. He found that in patients with
severe B-complex deficiency there was also achlorhydria or
hypochlorhydria. Table 1 shows his findings.

Table1. Summary or the relationship between skin diseases and HCL

Condition Number of patients achlorhydria hypochlorhydria normal
Acne Rosacea 30 40% 47% 13%
Alopecia 19 21% 74% 5%
Avitaminosis 37 30% 49% 21%
Eczema 106 25% 49% 26%
Lupus Erythematos 9 22% 78% 0%

Support Groups II

Thursday, March 23rd, 2006

Unfortunately I haven’t seen posts regarding any type of support
groups close by. Does anyone else have problems battling depression
because of SD? It is a daily struggle for me, and that’s an
understatement.

Support Group Indiana

I would also be interested in joining a support group. Are there any
in the Indiana area?

From peoples experiences I’d be curious to hear what effect, if any,
food and the environment have on SD.

Topical Borage Oi Good or Bad Ideal?

Sunday, March 12th, 2006

Been trying for a couple of days now with no real results Ill let you
know how I get on, has anyone else in this group ever had any success
with it?

another cool thing i’ve found that helps me

Saturday, March 11th, 2006

I just got my first microdermabrasion, and it sanded off all of the
flakes. Works like a charm! I am going to experiment with getting
them every 7-10 days to see what happens. This might not work for
everyone (it might be irritating for some people), but through B
vitamins and Clinique Redness Relief, I’ve pretty much eliminated my
redness and irritation, and am just left with a few flakes. I
exfoliate them each morning w/a grainy scrub, which works well, but now
I’m getting greedy and want my skin PERFECT :) This microderm sands it
smooth! It’s worth a try if you’re vain and have some extra cash lying
around!

B Complex Vitamins

Friday, March 10th, 2006

Because some people are having success with B Complex Supplements I
went and picked a bottle up today. It contains:

300 mg Vitamin C - 500% Daily Value
15 mg Thiamin - 1,000% DV
10.2 mg Riboflavin - 600% DV
50 mg Niacin - 250% DV
5 mg Vitamin B6 - 250% DV
10 mg Pantothenic Acid - 100% DV

It says to take one a day. Should I be taking more than one a day? And
how much is safe to take?

Thanks!
