yellowish, thick scales on part of the top of his scalp that come and go
since he was little..i really dont want to put him on a steriod type
thing like a doctor wants to do..so i am trying to treat at home
without spending an arm and leg trying and putting him through useless
processes- anyone here think they can help w/ advice? i am thinking tea-
tree shampoo..but i hate to make it worse-also anyone suggest dietary
changes? he is a vegatarian and likes healthy food- he would be open

Sounds like cradle cap to me. My daughter had it as a baby and I
treated it by rubbing baby oil into the scalp leaving overnight and
ten washing her hair in the morning massaging the shampoo in with a
baby brush, although this did relieve the worst of it, it never went
away completely, she has continued to have this and still has it to a
degree and she is now 15!! I too had this condition and currently
have a milder version of it now. My 12 year old son is also developing
it and has had success with nizoral shampoo (I also have had success
with the prescription strength of it). You may not want to go down
the chemical based route so I would imagine tee tree would be good as
it is a natural anti fungal. Also wash hair every other day, do not
allow the oils in his hair to build as this feeds the fungus. I have
found this helps and once it is under control you only need to use the
treatment shampoo perhaps 1 or 2 times per week use something else in
between. Hope this helps - but they are all different aren’t they?
(son no.3 has no sign of any of it!!)
Good Luck

for your sons scalp condition,
try the ACVM - Apple Cider Vinegar with Mother treatment. There is another
group treating this seb derm or symptoms with Apple Cider Vinegar.
