Dermadoctor Calm, cool and corrected. Anyone tried it?

Wednesday, December 28th, 2005

I am about to order a new bottle of Cutanix sensitive skin DRL, I order
it on www.dermadoctor.com Then I see that they also recommend a
product called Calm, cool and corrected, and I was wondering if anyone
tried it? It is a bit expensive, but I would be like to try it, so
maybe I will.

Best wishes,
Mads

help! looking for input

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

Brief background info - I just stopped using Protopic (which worked
great but may cause lymphoma) about 2 wks ago. I had a huge, awful
mess on my hands, so I used the Desowen (topical steroid) for about
2 days, then stopped. I don’t want to use a topical steroid because
of the skin atrophy, acne rosacea, etc. that it causes.

I then decided to try getting a little sun. I am normally a sun
avoider, because I don’t want to prematurely age my skin, but
desperate times call for desperate measures. Lo and behold, a
little sun really reduces the inflammation, and I’m able to
moisturize, then aggressively exfoliate the flakes.

I decided to talk to an immunologist to see if there was a
substance, food, mold, whatever - that could be contributing to
this. I went to a really renowned and respected immunologist today,

Antibiotics…

Sunday, December 25th, 2005

Hi, this is my first post….

I’ve been battling a severe flarup of seborrheic blepharitis for about
amonth now, and almost have it untder control. Only problem is, that
I’ve developed something called epidydimitis (an infection of the
sperm ducts in the testicle). They want to put me in cipro for a
week. I am deeply concerned about this, since i’m afraid about my
eyes getting bad again, but I also want to protect my "guys from any
damage.

Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Who still uses Protopic?

Saturday, December 24th, 2005

I was prescribed Protopic by my derm and it’s working good. I came
back on here to check up on what you guys had to say about it and
found the Cancer scare information. It’s kinda sad, because I’d found
something that works for me, but the risk seems to be too great. I was
curious as to how many folks on here still use it?

ACVM…again

Saturday, December 24th, 2005

I wanted to post my experiences with acvm (brand: Braggs 5%) in hopes
that I could get some feedback.

First of all, I have to say that the stuff works. Maybe it’s not 100%
effective but I’ve using it for one week (applying at morning and
night) and it’s already reduced my flaking by nearly 90%. My question
to those of the more experienced memebers in this group is how long
does it take before acvm can effectively reign in the symptoms of
sebderm. Someone on that ‘other’ list said one to a few months.

Also, does anyone use acvm in conjuction with other topical
treatments? Ideally I’d like to remove all the flakes before I start
my day but I’m hesitant to add anything (i.e. aloe vera gel) that may
interfere with the action of the acvm.

vitamin d cream

Anyone tried Curatoderm or another vitamin D cream to reduce cell
proliferation?

just had my first fraxel laser treatment

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

It’s a new one (just came out in March), much more serious than the
IPL and other light therapies. I had to be seriously drugged up,
and it was PAINFUL. It sucked, but I really think it has helped my
skin already! Either that or the copper post-laser lotion they gave
me is helping. I guess time will tell. I have to get 3 more
treatments.

I got it for skin rejuvenation — it’s supposed to vastly improve
skin texture and take 5-15 years off of the skin. I was really
hoping for sebderm improvement, and it actually does seem a little
better. I’m sure it’s fleeting — that’s my luck with this
condition.

They told me not to use the ‘roid cream, which I’d only used for two
days. For those who are interested, when I went off of Protopic my

Vegetarianism and SD/Yeast syndrome

Friday, December 9th, 2005

I wanted to know if any of the more experienced group members have
heard of a link of vegetarianism and SD? I started vegetarianism when
I was 18, back in 1998, but I wasn’t very educated in what constituted
a healthy veggie diet–basically I just swapped cheeseburgers for
veggie burgers, started eating meatless pizza, kept with the french
fries, ice cream, etc. In 2000 my face developed the mysterious non-
rosacea redness (but no flaking of any kind).

Fast forward to 2005, my face’s still red but now I’ve developed SD
(or an SD-like condition). I’m better about eating but after
examining my day-to-day diet, I came to the realization that it’s a
very, very high carb diet. Two days ago, I decided to do a 2 month-
long experiment and switch to a high-protein/low-carb eating regimen
to see what sort of results I get.

Sebderm-like conditions

Wednesday, December 7th, 2005

In spite of my derm’s diagnosis, I’m still a little unsure that I have
sebderm. I wanted to know if anyone suffering from seborrheic
dermatitis is familiar with these symptoms…

1.] mild redness between eyebrows, nose, and cheeks. It’s always
present (i.e., no rosacea-like highs-and-lows), no heat or pain
sensations. I’ve had this conditon since about 2000.

2.] presently, almost zero acne. I used to have normal acne then had
to take accutane to tackle a bad case of prednisone-induced acne that
wouldn’t respond to regular antibiotic treatment. Finished my 20 week
accutane treatment in December 2004 and now I only get one or two
pimples per week.

3.] light, dry flakes sparringly distributed on all over my face (i.e.
