Seb Derm Can Anyone Help?
Where to begin? About 7 years ago, after moving to a new area, I
noticed the kin on my cheek was sloightly red, only a small patch,
all the beauticians said it was dry skin that was also irritaed.
Anyway it didn’t bother me enough to worry. Gradually it got
slightly worse but then 2 years ago I started to get tiny tiny spots
just under the surfacve which when you ran your nail over them they
popped, these were also across the area above my eyebrows but would
not have been noticible to anyone looking at me. Mentioned it to the
octor who said rosacea and gave me metrogel - which was like using
pva glue on your face and then letting it peel off - discontineued
with that. Anyway I had a course of facials and the girl said my
skin was very dry. We then had building work done and the shower
cubicle was out of action for a april and may ( we had never had one
at our old house - new regime of more water, shampoo etc on face
itrritating it?) After this I used some of my daughters cleanser as
I had ran out of mine, it was neutrogena clear pore lotion, all the
little spots and the redness and dyness went, this was in the
summertime. I didn’t think anything of it and when the bottle had
gone switched back to my ordinary cleanser. Shower was reinstalled.
Gradually things went back to the dryness, spots and redness. Last
November after a VERY VERY stressfull weekend I woke to find my skin
had erupted into lots more redness and itchiness and burning and
tiny spots, went to the doctor who said acne and prescribed
tetracycline and steroid cream - went home and didn’t use the cream
as everything says do not use on rosacea (are doctors really that
stupid). Anyway within a weeek my skin was recovering enough that I
thougt it couldn’t have been the antibiotics working that quickly I
have just calmed down. Since then I have been under a lot of stress
and could feel myself stressed up which I have never felt before and
my skin erupted a couple more times I picked up with the tetra again
but agian within 5days or so it would calm and so stoppped taking
them. I then saw another doctor when my skin was calm to ask if it
could be seb derm as I have very itchy flakey scalp (which was
diagnosed as seb derm several years ago) very dry skin between and
in my eyebrows, I get large crsuts at times behind my ears and
flakey skin on my face, he said he saw no signs of rosacea and
agreed it could be he gave me daktacort but as this had steroid in I
didn’t dare use it. Two weeks ago I had a flare up and became very
very low and depressed - I went to a derm who was really not helpful
said I had oily skin and should wash in dove unperfumed soap only
and not use any moisturiser, he said i had seb derm and rosacea.
after asking how his other patients with rosacea look after
treatment he told me they say oh it’s lookin good best ever but he
said they still look like they have been hit around the face with a
baseball bat!! As you can imagine I was very low after that and
would not leave the house. He told me to take tetracycline and that
I would have to ‘have them on the side and treat them like smarties -
you may find you can stop them for a week or amonth and then dip
back into them’ He also prescribed Nizoral shampoo. I went to my
docotr this morning and voiced my concern over his treatment of me -
she dismissed it - my skin has calmed down after the disaster of the
dove soap experiment I had to use Eucerin cream for very dry skin to
repair it and now am using eucerin cleanser and a derma repair
cream. She would not prescribe any anti fungal cream even when I
told her my dad has seb derm and gets it in his ears over his cheeks
on his head on his chest and groin. she says that what he gets is a
fungal infection over the seborrheic eczema only in the moist areas
of his skin?!! She insisits tetracycline is the way to go and that 6
months traetment and then one month avery other day and then maybe
fiddle with the dosage. She was not entertaing any idea of seb derm
being the problem all over - my skin is now pink slightly rather
than angry red and stll is flakin etc. Seeing as seb derm and
rosacea are so similar how can they be so very sure as i have no
glaring thread veins etc i accept it could be both but surely when
they are so similar they could be wrong The spots I get are nothing
like ordinary spots they are superficiall and burst to leave no mark
what so ever.
I am desperate can anyone help me?

diet, excersise, supplements, nutrition also look for a doctor who will
treat you from the inside out. avoid toxins such as junk food, tobacco,
alcohol, and chemical processed foods.
