My SD nightmare…
well…i’m 27 years old male and around april/may of 2004 i got a
small maybe 1/8of an inch by 1/8 of an inch round ashy scaly patch on
my head … and it was itchy yeah i messed with it … i figured it
was a rash and it would subside by itsself… i figured it was a
bacterial infection got antibiotics… didnt help at all… when to
2 doctors one said here is some Hydrocortizone hope it helps…. it
didnt really helpand i gave up the one patch grew larger (origial
diagnosis dermititis) allerguic/contact dermititis but i was unsure
as i read up on it made one of my friends who’s a doc run all kinds of
tests on me cancer liver function etc… i’m 100% ok but found signs
of infection through one of the panels
3-4 months later it was in my ears in december it just exploded to
being one 1 spot on head to say approximatly 10 spots on my scalp the
origial being around 2.5 diameter inches now i got it on my face
forehead, nose, frown lines chin back of ear, in ears, underarms groin
everywhere… some small ones on my arms and legs people i knew said
it was ringworm but i was told if it was ringworm that my hair would
fore sure be falling out
I ran over to another doc who i knew (i’m a medical sales rep)and
asked him for an opinion he said he was sure it was SD and handed me a
scrpit for Prednisone and OLUX ( it looks like a bottle of shaving
cream) 2 days from the point i started using it all the ones on my
face were gone my scalp still has the crud but alot better and i feel
going away but it could be just taking longer as i allowed it such a
foothold
i’m 7 days into treatment used OLUX 2 times and prednisone 10mg for 7
days have 3 more pills remaining i am using anti-dandruff shampoo

Hi,
I hope the treatment is working for you.
I was wondering if there is anything that you can point your finger
to that could have triggered the initial onset? Like physical or
mental stress in any shape or form.
It is also interesting that you work within medicine and know a few
doctors. You probably know that seborrheic dermatitis is very often
cronic, so it will come and go. I have had it since 1997 or so, and I
am now 27. Had some very bad periods in 1997-1998, but for the most
part there has been a steady, kind of pink rash with oily skin and
enlarged pores around my nose. Needless to say it sucks.
The best treatment I know of is low dose accutane and Elidel or
Cutanix DRL. However, only the DRL is without side effects.
I would say the interesting treatment at the moment is the Tamarkin
Pharmaceutical product TU-2100, but it is yet to enter the market.
This product is a lot better than gold standard products currently
available, and also with no side effects. I would also be the only
topical that can reduce sebum output on the skin. Only accutane can
do this at the moment.
If you have contacts in the medical field, I would urge you to find
out more about the TU-2100, and when it is available.
Best wishes,
MLH
