switch from protopic to desonide?

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2005

I have severe sebderm on my face which doesn’t respond to dietary
changes, coal tar, dandruff shampoos, herbs, frequent or infrequent
washing patterns, wishful thinking, vinegar, lots of sleep, no sleep,
lots of water, no beer or cheese, etc. Over the years, I’ve tried it
all, except for corticosteroid lotions. One thing that worked was
Ketoconazole cream, which pretty much "cured" me for 3 months, then
stopped working completely. Then I found Protopic. Protopic has been
a wonder drug for me, and it has given me the closest thing to normal
skin I’ve had since this whole condition really kicked in.

Now my derm, who is conservative, believes that the risks of Protopic
causing cancer are real, and he has stopped prescribing it completely.
He says that he believes that it will eventually be found that the
whole cancer scare has been overblown, but until then, he wants his
patients to stop using it.

IT"S BACK!!! And what is ACV??

Thursday, November 17th, 2005

Hi
I’ve been lurking around this site but I’m in anothr flare up of SD so
I need to touch base. I tried to search this "ACV" and are you
referring to apple cider vinegar? On your face as a???? calming agent
or ….?? I’ve been using ZNP soap and it seems to help but can a
person’s skin become immune to it or does it just stop working like
everything else I try? And yes, I am going through a stressful time so
I realize that causes flare ups but still looking for something that
can calm the redness mostly so I won’t be so embarrassed to go out
etc. I know diet helps but my diet is limited as I have gastroparesis
and also had Nissen fundoplication surgery for acid reflux. I feel
that once I can get the redness controlled a bit, my stress level
lowers, I concentrate more on what I eat and do. Make sense?
Any help will be appreciated. And what is the other site I read about
on here? Lot of questions, sorry.

High GI/Low GL or Low GI/High GL

Wednesday, November 16th, 2005

Hi.

Im suffering from mild rosacea&sebderm and right now i’am pusseled.
We need to control our carb intake, if we dont than our faces goes red
and stuff…
I can’t decide…which is less aggravating and WHY (explain your
answer!)…food that has enough carbs and low Glycemic Index like
Spaghetti (Low GI/High GL) or Mashed Potatoes which is High Glycemic
Index food with low Carbs (High GL/Low GI). I’am asking that because
I’m trying to gain 10kg.
To refraze my question. IS it worse to have quick rise in glucose (2
servings of mashed potatoe) or milder rise in glucose but with more
content (2 servings of pasta)?

And can someone explain the effects of insulin spikes on our face (i

long term ovace and lorpox, is it ok?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

Hi there,

I’ve tried most things (ZNP Bar, Nizoral, Dramatic Effect, etc…) and nothing
has ever worked
as well as Ovace once a day (usually every other day, sometimes every day if it
flares up). I
also follow that sometimes with Loprox. It just works perfectly. That being
said, is it ok to
use both those things long term? One derm I talked to said it was totally
fine… the other one
didn’t seem to like to use ovace long term, but prefered more OTC methods like
the ZNP bar
after Ovace, but that doesn’t work well for me.

thanks for your input!!

Seb Derm Can Anyone Help?

Tuesday, November 15th, 2005

Where to begin? About 7 years ago, after moving to a new area, I
noticed the kin on my cheek was sloightly red, only a small patch,
all the beauticians said it was dry skin that was also irritaed.
Anyway it didn’t bother me enough to worry. Gradually it got
slightly worse but then 2 years ago I started to get tiny tiny spots
just under the surfacve which when you ran your nail over them they
popped, these were also across the area above my eyebrows but would
not have been noticible to anyone looking at me. Mentioned it to the
octor who said rosacea and gave me metrogel - which was like using
pva glue on your face and then letting it peel off - discontineued
with that. Anyway I had a course of facials and the girl said my
skin was very dry. We then had building work done and the shower
cubicle was out of action for a april and may ( we had never had one
at our old house - new regime of more water, shampoo etc on face
itrritating it?) After this I used some of my daughters cleanser as

Beneficial bacteria supplemets . . .

Monday, November 14th, 2005

HI,

i like to know what anti yeast bacterial supplements people take here.
health food store has alot of acidophilus supplements to take.
dont know which one to get.

does acid in the stomach kill the bacteria ?
one brand from Waverly had a gel that protects the bacteria till it
reaches small intestine. It also had Bifidus in it.

should I get more than one strain ?
some people here like Three Lac.seems overpriced and the
bacteria in it isnt in any other supplements.
i dont even know if those bacteria are natural to
our digestive tract.
