Hey this might help

Monday, October 31st, 2005

Hey, I don’t really post too much on this site or the other site. I
pretty much just read the posts and try and learn from it. I have been
reading a lot on the other site and have been trying to switch up my
diet and use the apple cider vinegar on my face. I eat a lot healthier
and my bdy is getting super ripped from not eating fast food and just
being smart as to what I put in my body. After using things like
nizarol, head and shoulders etc. they helped but never got me happy.
This has got me seriously clear and happy as hell. I am not here to
promote that site or anything and you guys probably disscussed the
whole vinegar thing but it is the only thing that has really helped me.
I will try and help people where I can because I really hate this
condition and would not wish it on my worse enemy. I hope you guys find
whats best for your condition. Cya

negative ions

Sunday, October 30th, 2005

Thanks Richard,

That’s a really interesting post. I wonder if computer screens have a
negative affect as I aslo put so of my problems in the office to the
number of computers running. I wonder if this is actually quite a big
factor in SD. I always wonder if I wpould of developed SD if I had
live in natural environments in th past. It is in only quite recent
history than we live in such articfical environments, even central
heating was only for the very rich until mid-last century. The facy
that my SD is affected and my skin recognises air-conditioned
environments in sometimes a matter of seconds even if the temperature
change is negligble has always made me wonder if something
airconditioning did was to blame. HMMM interesting. James

My experience

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Hi,

I’m 59 and have had what seems to be SD on and off since last
summer. I’ve had red burning skin around the nose mostly,
which burns like heck for a few days then begins to scab, but
then flakes before the skin underneath is fully mature.

Doctors, including both primary care & dermatologists
weren’t too much help- just prescribing bactroban(it was first
diagnosed as impetigo)which burned like heck, then hydrocortisone
(which I know and they warn is not good for my thinning aging skin)
and oxistat which was expensive & hard to tell whether it was helping.

Here’s what I’ve been doing the past few weeks, which
seems to be working for the time being.

aircon

Saturday, October 29th, 2005

Yes air conditioning is a bad thing for my SD. I was just saying that
other types of air which is tampered with is bad, like warm air vents.
One problem is also I think changes in air temperatures. I think these
things may be a problem because they cause the skin to expand and
contrract. Humidity is also a factor in how the skin is affected.
Though to be clear air conditioning is far worse for me than any air
temperature change. After 1-2 minutes in an airconditioned shop I feel
my skin start to itch, cinemas also drive me crazy. I have wondered at
times if it is due to chemicals in the systems? All I know is it
bad.James

air conditioning.

Sorry to hear your going through a tough patch I know how soul
destroying it can be. I don’t want to push Salcura on this forum
anymore but I do recomend it, apart from that my only ok results have
been with anti-fungal craems and protopic. Try to get a bigger
perspective on your condition and life, I know the worst times have
been when I have drifted into self pity, which is understadable but
not helpful. I avoid showers at the moment I find baths are less
drying. Remember theirs always someone worse off than you.

Oh on the airconditioning this it has been variable to the power of
the airconditioning (i’m not expert in it) but I have had problems in
buildings with air heating vents which isn’t airconditioning as such.
I think anything that gives you skin an environment of drying is not
helpful. I think we all need to start a commune in the middle of the
tropics. James

air conditioning

I’m currently having real success with Salcura. It’s no cure but I
have about 80% clearance and flaking is down to a minimum. However I’m
hoping to go long term to possibly (Japan) to teach but am worried
about the air-conditioning. I was triggered to mention air-
conditioning because Tony mentiaoned his sd started in an office
environment. I had to leave working in offices because the air-
conditioioning was terrible for my skin, easily the worst it’s been.
So I would appreciate any experiences with ac which is more common but
not used as frequently as the US in the UK. And any way around the
problem. James

sun - good or bad

Saturday, October 22nd, 2005

hello all,

simply put is sun something to avoid or try and be in to a resonable amount? my
SD really kicked in about age 32, 37 now. i spend my days in an office with a
dirty terrible heating/ac system. as a kid/youger man i was out in the sun, used
to play tennis. just wondering if the sun was what was keeping the SD away in
the younger years. sweating, getting warm really seems to have a negative
effect. have not worked out in about 16 months…and it’s starting to show. heat
in general is not a good thing and summer is on the way.

Shea butter works

Friday, October 21st, 2005

Ever since I got badly damaged by a Neutrogena "sensitive skin"
moisturizer over a year ago, I haven’t been able to use any
moisturizer at all on my face except for organic extravirgin olive
oil. The oil is soothing, but makes my face really shiny (have combo
skin) and has a strong smell. Over the last week I have been using
pure shea butter instead. The stuff is excellent! My skin is smooth,
not greasy, and I can’t see any flakes. No signs of irritation at all.
Certainly worth a try…

Does our SD condition improve as we get older?

Wednesday, October 19th, 2005

hey lovlies!

I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to the question I posed?
Does our SD improve as we get older? I’m really curious about this. I
got SD when I was 19 and have had it for 3+ years. At the beginning
it appeared on my chin and as time passed slowely spread to my
cheecks, eyebrows and a bit on the forehead. Has anyone has had Sd for
5-10 or more years and in that time have you noticed if it has gotten
worse (ie spread) then gotten better? Or gotten worse and continued to
get worse? Or gotten worse then pretty much stayed the same? I can’t
seem to find any reports of this on the internet or if I have it
really isn’t clear!

HAPPY APRIL 1ST BY THE WAY. I don’t plan on pulling a prank on anyone,
but I hope you all have a good day and even better a great weekend!!!!
