My hair has grown back… 1 year

All,

I have had the nasty SD with hairloss. It’s official
my hair has grown back, after fighting these nasty
buggers for a year. My new hair are between 1 and 3
inches long, my other hair is roughly 12 inches long.
They are softer than my existing hair and they stick
up. But they’re there. I was combing them yesterday
and I was thinking about how grateful I was that my
biggest problem now is trying to tame them.

For months and months I went through hell trying to
hide this awful semi-bald patch near the front of my
hair line. I had a ‘comb over’ aided with a
strategically placed hair band, and frequent

adjustments. I did a good job hiding it, but that was
just a small part of my problem.

At it’s worse I had severe scaling and itching. It was
all over my scalp, in my eyebrows and my ears.
Sometimes it was so painful it kept me up at night. My
pillow and floor were covered in hair, I just kept
losing hair. My hair fell out with these fat, globby
roots attached to them. I went my primary doctor, who
was totally dismissive of my hairloss, have me some
selenium shampoo for my dandruff and sent me on my
way. Three doctors and no results later (nizoral, and
other remedies) I found myself on topical steriods.

Steriods burnt my scalp, and increased my hairloss.
Now I had a patch the size of a finger, where I had
hairloss. I cried a lot. I started using ACV with the
steriods, but I felt totally defeated. A month on the
steriods (and ACV), found a new dermatologist, he also
has SD.

I started on a holistic cure in addition to Loprox
twice a week.

1. I was soothing the itching with alcohol free aloe
vera gel. Aloe vera gel has naturally occurring
salicyclic (sp) acid in it.

2. I massage my scalp with jojoba oil about twice a
week. Jojoba is supposed to help keep the hair pores
from getting clogged. (clogged pores lead to my type
of hair loss).

3. I reduced/eliminated refined sugars from my diet,
and made the effort to eat far more fresh produce.

4. I comb my scalp very thoroughly with a soft comb
about twice a day to break up any scales.

5. I noticed that before my period I have a greater
degree of hair falling out than at other times, and
this is normal for women. I’m very sensitive to hair
falling out.

6. If I have a sweaty day; working out, hot sun, I
rinse with ACV.

7. Wash my hair everyday. Loprox Wednesday and
Saturday, other days I’m using Fructis anti dandruff.

I’ve been doing this for 6 months with success. I hope
this helps someone (I wish I had this information a
year ago…)

Hi. I have the same problem. Its horrible doctors cant recognise the
problem. My trichologist ( hair specialist) did. He has me wash my hair
daily, alternating between Head and Shoulders and Tea Tree Oil shampoo from
The Body Shop. Conditoner should never touch the scalp, only the ends. You
should shampoo very rigorously. Combing 4 times a day is very important, as
are the dieatry changes. He paticuarly believes dairy products are bad for
    the skin.
    Im glad your improving!

    Hi group-

Just wanted to let you know I have been using the fluocinolone drops
prescribed by my derm for the last few days. So far so good, no burning or
redness and for the first time in a year, and when I get out of the shower
my scalp is not red! Also when I get home from work at the end of the day my
eyebrows and scalp aren’t oozing sebum. Not quite ready to take a warm
shower, maybe I’ll try that next week.

It is a steroid, and thus far has not aggravated my rosacea…just wanted to
let you all know that after trying hoardes of different meds (Loprox,
Denorex, Neutrogena, Noritate, Keto, Capex etc.) I found something that
    seems to be working.

    Take care,

    Amanda
