To Kevin

Wednesday, August 31st, 2005

Hi Kevin,

As it was my suggestion you tried Threelac and have found some
success with it. I wonder if you could trust me to try Salcura, as
while I think threelac has some real benefits, Salcura is the real
thing. Ps I only have the groups interestes at heart, and a slightly
obsessional quest for the group to listen to what I’m saying. James

Causes of Seb Derm.

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

I think it might be worthwhile reflecting on the causes of Seb Derm.
The current consensus is that:

(1) People with a genetic predisposition, (2)allied with an immune
system condition, and/or a neurological condition, and/or a hormonal
imbalance, (3)produce a very rich form of sebum from their very
active, often enlarged, sebaceous glands. (4)Naturally occurring
yeasts, which live on the body, thrive on this form of sebum. The
yeast population explodes. (5)Their (acid) secretions irritate the
person’s skin barrier in localised areas. (6)This results in
inflammation (redness), itching, and a rapid turnover of skin cells
(flaking). The areas of the body affected are the areas of the body
with the largest concentrations of sebaceous glands - the scalp, the
forehead, the sides of the nose, chest, etc.
Sounds familiar? This is Seb Derm.

Kevin-Please share your experience

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Kevin,
I just read your tremendous news at another site. I think it would
add value to this group if you shared your experiences here too. I
understand if you don’t want but you’d be helping others and that’ll
give you a warm fuzzy feeling ;) Regards, Scott.

salcura update

Monday, August 29th, 2005

I was asked by a member for an update. Things are great I see my skin
clearing all the time. I didn’t think it would take the skin so long
to heal, but as the skin isn’t flaking I’m happy that healing is
happening. I’m surprised no-one has tried salcura yet. You can buy it
very easily on ebay, it’s not an expensive product even. Oh well I
tried,james

Recent Derm Visits

Sunday, August 28th, 2005

Hi,
A couple of weeks ago I saw my regular derm. Nothing seemed to be
working for me anymore, Nizoral, H & S, Klaron, etc. She prescribed
Loprox lotion and shampoo. In the last couple of days it’s starting
to reduce the redness and oiliness pretty well. About the same time I
started taking Threelac, so maybe that has something to do with it,
but I suspect it’s mostly the Loprox. I just hope it lasts . . .

Today I went to see a derm I used to see a few years ago. I told her
about my success with Vitamin B5. She was interested in learning more
about it, so I gave her the website info. I also told her about this
group and she said she would recommend it to some of her patients
with seb derm. Her advice for when nothing is working is to take a
course of either oral diflucan or sporanox. I know a couple of people
in this group have tried these without much benefit. Has anyone had

andmag - how’s it going?

Saturday, August 27th, 2005

Dear Andmag,
I have been looking back through the archives of this group with
interest. Way back in the beginning (2001), I came across one of
your first posts where you have discovered protopic. I was just
wondering what you thoughts are four years later? Has the medication
remained as effective today or did your skin develop a tolerance to
the protopic? I have included your comments below, to jog your
memory…

For the record, I have never used Protopic but it seems a very
popular choice of treatment, I want to understand the long term
effects of using it.

Regards, Shadow.

Where is shadow? Question for Shadow

Wednesday, August 24th, 2005

Okay,
Aside from all the HIV debate, back to my progress.

I’ve been doing a 90% Candida diet for three weeks now and taking a
product called Threelac for 7 days, three packets per day now. I
also have been doing the ACVWM treatment for about 10 days.

Here is where I’m at. No SD of any kind anywhere to be found and my
scalp flakes are gone. My skin is similar to that of a babies rear!

I have not touched my skin with ACVWM for 2 full days now to let the
redness and burning subside. It did and my skin is like new again,
so is my scalp. I plan to use vinegar twice per week now, over-
nighting in on my scalp and drenching my face with 50/50 solution as
I have concluded that straight vinegar is to harsh on my facial

Where’s the Salcura update?

Wednesday, August 17th, 2005

Just curious as to how things were going with you James.

thanks for the suggestion

Saturday, August 13th, 2005

Hi James

thanks for the advice. I just wanted to say that I wish I wasn’t on
any kind of medication for my SD problem, but it really can’t be
helped. I’ve tried so many different medications that haven’t worked
which have been difficult. Accutane is the only medication that has
really helped. I made a difficult decision . . . and its not
something I take lightly. It was either be selfconscious about the
SD or be confident and back to my "old self" while being on the
medication. I am aware that it may not last long (i.e. a couple of
months and if I’m lucky a year or years), but I’m just trying to
wait out the SD hoping that each year that goes by will mean new
breakthroughs in SD medications or until my skin can return to its
orginal texture. But that is why this site is so helpful, however,
what works on one person may not work on another. It’s just a

Help w/ flareups!

Friday, August 12th, 2005

hey group!

I’ve been taking accutane for two months and a half at a low dose of
10mg (2times a week) and have gotten great results. My dose was
increased to 3 times a week and i’ve noticed a bit more flare ups.
It could be due to the climate change (i.e. mild climate dipping to
cold with cold winds), however, it might be the increase in the
dose. It’s really hard to say with these things! But I have this
flareup on my face that is pretty persistent (i.e has been there for
2 and a half days. Usually I put Aloe vera gel and some mild face
cream and viola its gone in minutes, but this time it hasn’t worked.
The redness and itching stops after I appy both AV and the cream,
but seems to reappear after a couple of hours (i.e. redness comes
back and itchyness too). I was just wondering is there any natural
products that can help reduce my flare up. I’m really not wanting to
