3. The Future: Indocyanine green chromophore followed with diode
laser — future of sebaceous gland treatment. This chromophore dye
diffuses directly down the pore into all areas of the sebaceous
gland lobules. It has a stong affinity for certain types of cells
only found in sebaceous glands — immature sebocytes — so it
diffuses to these cell types and not all over the skin. The
chromophore interacts with a very specific wavelength of 805 to 810
nm right inside the sebaceous gland and causes complete and
permanent closure of all parts of the sebaceous glands. Right now
approved for back acne treatment, but must go through face treatment
approval. This looks to be rosacea friendly.
