Some of you may already be familiar with this site. It has been of great
assistance to me in seeking out the roots of my stomach condition/seb derm.
If you type in searches for
SEBORHEIC DERMATITIS there is a lot of great info, a lot of which points to
using omega oils and controlling candida. Dr. Stoll mentions that he has
never seen a patient with seb derm where candida or lack of essential oils
in the diet was not the cause. I know this may not be right for everyone,
but I know that my candida and seb derm go completley hand in hand after
years of anti biotics and contraceptive pills. I am currently supplementing
with oils, taking herbal antifungals and probiotics as well as eliminating
dairy ( the dairy elimation was suggested by my derm beleive it or not. I
told him I was tired of band aid creams, and he said if i followed a very
strict no dairy diet things may improve. He said I couldnt even have a tiny
drop of milk in my tea for six weeks, and that milk and chocolate were two
of the worst dietary offendrs for seb derm. Of course when I tried to bring
up the internal fungal issue, he didnt want to look into it, even though he
knows I have suffered from other skin fungals in the past! Anyway, we all
have a lot to learn and I wish you all success on your path to beat this
terrible condition. I believe that if we all look inwards we are on the
right track. This is not incurable! lets continue to share our reserach and
progress together.

Hi John
As your email address came us OPTUS, I am guessing you are in Australia.
Australia is full of excellent natural practitioners. I think it would be
beneficial for you to consult one and get them to assess if you have a
candida problem and also get some allergy testing done for dairy AND soy.
They should be able to provide you with the appropriate dietary advice and
supplements. As others have mentioned, a proboitic and essential fatty acids
( omega 3s such as Flax and Fish oil ) in large doses are really the start
of tackling this internally. They can tailor any dietray modification that is
needed for you and check your progress. I know that many useful naturopaths
are listed in the yellow pages. In the meantime, cut back on the dairy and
supplement with small amounts of soy milk if needed. Out of curiosity, have
you taken anti biotics in the past?
Renkon.
Hi John
I notices that your email address came up as OPTUS. ar

Milk and ice cream are bad for seb derm because they are loaded with
sugar–even a glass of skim milk has about 12 grams of sugar
Dairy products without sugar or are low in sugar I think are fine for seb
derm, such as cheese, sour cream, and heavy cream
Sugar and carbs, when processed by our body leads to all sorts of
inflammation
The low carb diets are helpful for seb derm because they are also
anti-inflammatory diets
The best supplements that I have found to help seb derm is borage oil and
probiotics. Borage oil contains the highest amount of GLA of any known
plant–a few studies have been done that show those with atopic dermatitis
have a deficient enzyme that prevents them from producing enough GLA
naturally. GLA is responsible for regulating inflammation.
I think herbal anti-fungals are not that effective, I have tried many of
them and did not see a difference. I also took RX anti-fungal Diflucan and
did not see any improvement either.
You can also try taking digestive enzymes like bromelian and a few
others–these I think are also quite helpful, but obvioulsy not a cure

There is no cure from the medicine but there should be a cure
in the future and there might be a cure from the alternative
treatment, we all are searching for it. Yes, we can find the
cure very soon

Soy milk and rice milk with sugar can be inflammatory
as the inflammation is indirectly caused by the sugar,
without sugar they are fine. So Nice has Unsweetened
soy milk now and it’s my favorite.

I agree with you. Cut sugar and carbs down does all good
and no harm

I started taking antibiotics at 17 for acne, by 20 I started to get seb
derm, and probably like all here my skin has never looked the same since. I
am getting improvements through diet changes but I’m still getting SD and
acne. Changing my diet has been hard though because I have lost 5kg and a
lot of it was muscle. I was thinking of seeing an immunologist or
gastroentologist but I might just see a naturopath.

Gosh it makes me so angry that doctors prescribe antibiotics for acne
without telling us the side effects! It sounds like you need to repopulate
the good bacteria and kill of the candida yeast to improve your skin.

Hi Renee,
I have been taking probiotics in small quantites after my liver flushes
monthly, but how do I get rid of Candida (assuming I have it)
Somebody at another forum recommended me to get Primal defence probiotics a
while back. They sell it on ebay, 180 caps x 2 for $95USD. Shipping is free
for US residents.
