Is that 2% or 1% Nizoral? I'm using the 2% to better effect than
anything else. You might try Loprox too (prescription required in
U.S.). That worked ok, but I find it didn't work better than the
Nizoral 2%. I alternate with Neutrogena T-Sal (max strength I think)
and that seems to be working good for me on the scalp.

you may want to try Garnier Fructis Anti-Dandruff shampoo--it is like $4
OTC.

Main ingedient is same as Head and Shoulders, zinc pyrithione, but for some
reason the Fructis version has really cured my scalp seb derm--been using it
for about five months now and my scalp is never a problem anymore

I think it has alot of other moisturizers/emollients in it so it does not
dry out your scalp like H&S, Nizoral and the T-gels seems to do--hey for $4
you won't be breaking the bank on this one.

I should also say that have been using this shampoo everday as a body wash
in the shower (instead of soap) and my all over body itching has stopped and
my psoriasis on knees and elbows has vanished

Cathy and Sonia,

Maybe your SD on the scalp is far worse than mine, but have you tried
H&S Intensive Treatment? It's the best shampoo I've comed acrossed.

Neutrogena T/Gel seems to work well for me however you need to use it
no less than 3 times per week and need to leave it on your hair for
at least 5 minutes before rinsing out.

I'm new to the group and have been reading posts for a few weeks. My
daughter is 5 y.o. and suffers from eczema and has been diagnosed with
seb derm. She scratches at her temples, eyes, back of neck and ears.
When I took her to see her dermatologist she suggested we try DMS Zinc
Shampoo. I had to ask the pharmacist to order it for me. We've been
using it now for a little over a month. I'm finding that I have to
shampoo her hair everyday. If I skip a day the flakes come right back.
Prior to using DMS we were using T-Gel which was suppose to help with
the dry itchy scalp. It worked for awhile but when the yeast set in, it
did nothing to the large oily flakes. Hope this helps someone.

I second Sonia's question about helpful shampoos. Nizoral doesn't
seem to do a darn thing for me. Neither does T/Gel. I'm trying
T/Sal now -- too early to tell much.

Any recommendations for shampoos, or any other products to treat seb
derm on the scalp, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Cathy

My best shampoo experience, using both on scalp and face, is with
Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment Shampoo with Selenium Sulfide.
The active ingredient in the regular H & S is zinc pyrithione. The
selenium sulfide is more effective for me at least. It can be a
little drying on the face, but you can moisturize a little after
washing it off.
