<description>Well, it was actually Avita...which is retin-A based, but supposedly a
much less harsh formulation than Retin-A. I think the idea is to get
cell turnover. However, to me, it just resulted in irritating the
skin and making the seb derm worse. I had a little bit of acne to
that we were trying to get rid of. However, that was easily cleared
by merely washing my face with a cleanser (Oil of Olay foaming facial
cleanser for sensitive skin) and shaving with my electric razor much
lighter. I think I was merely creating ingrown hairs. So I dropped
all that nonsense.

The Ovace definitely seemed like it was very drying. However, I was
also using the sulfur cream + Avita. So, triple drying action going
on there. I could just blow a hair dryer on my face for a lot cheaper
=). You might try the Ovace cleanser with more of a dabbing motion.
For instance, rather than cleanse with it, just suds it up and dab it
&lt;!--more--&gt;
on then rinse off after 5 min. I've been doing this with Nizoral
shampoo 2% to fairly good effect every couple of weeks or so.

		<description>Eric,
I have never heard of retin-a for seb derm--in fact some people claim
that using retin-a for acne has caused their seb derm.

Anyway, the Ovace gel seems really inert (have not tried the cleanser
yet)--used it last night and it this morning a few minor seb derm
patches looked a little better. I am not currently in a major flare
so when that happens I will put the Ovace gel to a true test, but at
least it seems I am not allergic to it.

I hesitate to sue the cleanser as I am sure that it will really dry
my skin out to much--the gel, though not really mostuirizing, does
not seem like it will be overly drying, it just looks and feels inert
on skin which I feel is a huge advantage over the steroids and creams
that most of us use daily.
&lt;!--more--&gt;

Will update again soon.

<description>I've used Ovace. I didn't have much luck with it. My derm seemed to
think I might be allergic to sulfur products. I'm not sure whether
that was an accurate assessment by her in hindsight. She had me using
retin-a, plus a sulfur based cream, plus the ovace every few days.
Since I still had issues after removing the sulfur based products, my
guess is the real culprit was the retin-a based product.

I haven't gone back and really tried the Ovace again. I may try it on
my chest and see if I get a reaction.

So basically, I&#34;ve used it. I think it's a good product, it just may
not have been for me.

<description>I am using Ovace Wash for about a month. So far it's the best product for
SD I've tried!! It's a bit drying though. Anybody have a moisturizier for
ovace?</description>
