Peeling again / Cutanix

Friday, January 7th, 2005

I had been posting about my great progress with Cutanix over the past
month and a half.

This past Sunday, I went for a 6 mile walk in the cold New England
air and I am wondering if that is what caused this relapse. Every
day since my SD has gotten progressively worse. I started out
feeling tightness in my face, and then reddening patches, and then
the past two days, peeling getting worse by the day.

I hate this condition. I don’t know if the walk caused the relapse,
maybe it was something I ate, or stress. I question everything I
eat, do, and feel.

red patches ?? r those normal for SD

Tuesday, January 4th, 2005

Hi Everyone
I’ve been a memeber of this groups for quite a while , but i havent
posted until now.Anyway , here is my story (the short version :)) ):
I was first diagnosed with SD when i was 18 - last year in high
school , graduation , prom … what a nightmare :)).The first doctor
that i went to , gave me a steroid cream and told me that i’ll be
cured in 2 weeks …… the rest is history :).
So now 6 years later , im back to where i was.I’ve used steroid
creams , antifungal creams , apple cider (which actually helped a bit)
homeopatic medicines etc , but my SD is still the same even a bit
worse.
All the doctors that i’ve been to , have told me that i have SD.
But i think that i also have rosacea , because i get kind of burning
sensations when going from hot to cold and from cold to hot , also
when i exercise or when I’m under stress , etc.

sebderm and inbalance

Monday, January 3rd, 2005

anyone ever consider an imbalance in our system such as good bacteria vs.
bad bacteria. If you were ever given a dosage of antibiotics, which i have
in the past, or taken accutane it has basically destroyed your intestinal
flora, not only the bad bacteria but the good bacteria. Good bacteria is
neccessary for proper digestion of foods in our intestines, with out it,
skin irritations such as exzema or seb derm could arise. Perhaps probiotics
and detoxifying our systems is what we need.

I have read that taking antibiotics in the past may not show symptoms at
that moment but much later in life, years later.

Hello,

I’d like to know if you need a prescription to buy this drug?

I’d like to also know what’s the generic brand of it?

I don’t think it’s avalaible in Canada so I’d have to buy it online

Thanks

Sodium sulfacetamide wash has made me a happy guy again

Saturday, January 1st, 2005

Hi. I’ve never posted here before, but I’ve poked around a bit and
wanted to share my experience. For the last 10 years or so, my face
has been blotchy and flaky. Not always, but rarely has a week gone by
where I don’t have a patch or patches on my face. I’ve tried it all:
topical steroids (like Desowen), Elidel, Protopic, Nizoral cream, etc
etc. It was really frustrating!! I’m in sales and call on doctor’s
offices all day, so that made it even more uncomfortable. I read
somewhere about OVACE, a wash used up to 2X day. I asked my derm
about it. She knows I’m allergic to sulfa drugs so suggested I apply
some sample OVACE foam to the inside of my wrist for a few days - if
I didn’t break out, I might then try the sodium sulfacetamide wash.
Within days, my skin looked brand new and even after 2 months, I’m
doing great (keeping fingers crossed for the future). I apply this
stuff once a day after I wash my face, and then moisturize with
Cetaphil facial moisturizer. OVACE is the brand name, but the wash

What I’ve found

Saturday, January 1st, 2005

Sorry to those of you who may think this simplistic, but I’ve had a problem with
Seb Derm for the past few years. It took a comment from my dentist about my
condition and then a trip to the web to confirm the diagnosis. Anyway, my case
shows up with redness and flaking on the outside areas above my upper lip, and
then redness in the skin on the sides of my nose. For a couple of years, not
knowing what the problem was, I didn’t wash much and moisturized quite a bit.

Since learning about the condition, I’ve washed my face twice per day (sometimes
with just regular bar soap) and when the condition is acting up, I’ll use
Cutanex. Occasionally I’ll exfoliate with a scrub. Not sure that this is
recommended, but I just feel like every once in a while I’d like to really clean
the pores well.

The condition is very much under control now. Thank you to those who posted
when I first researched the condition. Hopefully my condition won’t worsen over

Vogue Article on Smoothbeam

Saturday, January 1st, 2005

The article discusses a Clear Light treatment for acne bacteria.

I’ve been web surfing today, so I thought I’d post a few of the
things I discovered out there.

Has anyone started Smoothbeam treatments? It sounds good, but it’s
also very new.
