Reminders

Monday, January 31st, 2005

Hi,
Here are some things to keep in mind as we deal with this problem:

1. If you’re trying something new, give it a fair chance. Try it out
for at least a month before giving up or switching to something else.
Sometimes it just takes that long to kick in.

2. If something worked for you in the past, try it again. Sometimes
your skin just needs a break from a treatment. Give it 6 months or a
year off and then go back to what worked for you before.

3. As for the social stuff, it’s hard, but you have to pretend that
you don’t even have a problem. Most people are so wrapped up in their
own lives that they never even notice your skin problems. Try to live
your life exactly as you would if your skin was perfect. This is

FLUCONAZOLE

Saturday, January 29th, 2005

I did use FLUCONAZOLE in the past. It did feel like acid on my scalp and it
did thin my hair causing it to fall out. Also increased the redness and
irritation.

Wednesday, January 26th, 2005

Greetings everyone. My sd is only on my scalp. Does anyone suggest
a vitamin to take to see if it has helpful effects. Someone
mentioned taking biotin, zinc and flaxseed oil. Any sugg. on a
multivitamin with all those in it? Also, what exactly are probiotics?

Could it be the water???

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

I had been doing ok with Cutanix until about 3 weeks ago, the flaking
slowly came back. Then last Friday, my Husband and I went to San
Diego and Vegas. My diet was horrible, eating greasy foods, pizza,
and drinking too much. My skin was perfect on the entire trip. It
was never red or irritated.

Last nite, we got home, and I washed my face, the same as the same
prior nites. But my face burned, and I realized it had not hurt over
the prior week. It also had not peeled. This AM I got up, and it was
red and flaking.

Now one thing I would quickly attribute the diffence to is the
weather, but, at home in Mass. was 70 degrees yesterday and today.
So the weather in New England had caught up to where I had come
from. My thought is possibly that the water was very different where

sebderm over the years

Saturday, January 15th, 2005

I was wandering if any of you who had sebderm for the last 10 or 15
years noticed that the condition was worsening over the years or
remain the same.
I have sebderm for the last 8 years. at the beginning I went to
dermatologists to find a cure but later on with my experience I have
came to decision that derm’’s does not help you for the long term –
they only make it much worse.
over the years and after trying every thing that I herd that can
help, and spending lots of dollars for nothing, I have came to a
conclusion that the best and only thing I can do for my sebderm is
by changing my diet and eat healthier food, avoid stress – I do also
lots of exercise which is a major stress reducer, I try to sleep as
much as I can, I clean my face regularly at least twice a day and
using a thin non oily moisturizer twice a day. I have also noticed
that weather can also have its influence on sebderm –

Chemical irritaion + seb derm

Saturday, January 15th, 2005

Take a look at this abstract. Seems to confirm what I’ve learned
through trial and error with my SD. Skin all over my body is
hypersenstive, not just the SD affected areas. I just had an itchy
low level dermatitis as a result of changing laundry detergents.
Washed my clothes in just water several times to remove the residue.
The condition cleared up in a week. I’m just washing SD area with
cool water.

Settle down people!!!

First of all, Steven of "the other seb derm group", you may remain
here as long as you behave. Your recent posts are just childish and
doesn’t belong in the group, take it directly with the people
involved via e-mail. I haven’t comed to your group and posted ads for
my group, please don’t do that in mine.

I don’t want to see any more of this rubbish in the group, I couldn’t
care less for "the other seb derm group", how many people you’ve got
there or anything - what’s next, compare eachothers penis length and
see who’s got the longest? Please! Let’s stay focused on what all
this is about!

This group is an open democracy, let’s keep it that way, we don’t

Soaps and Detergents

Wednesday, January 12th, 2005

Hi folks,

I just found out the hard way that shampoos like Nizoral can be
irritating om the face. I had been applying Nizoral shampoo to my
face every other day and letting it soak for 5 to 10 minutes. After
about a week of this, my face was really irritated and dry. I patch
tested the shampoo on my inner arm for 24 hours. Sure enough, an
irritation reaction occurred. The Nizoral cream has never irritated
me, so it must the shampoo base.

After my experience and reading the following article, I’ll stick
with just cool water for washing my face. Seems, that cleansers can
lead to a long lasting cycle of irritation and skin damage. Take a
look.
