Hi,
I just came back from the drug store, and they had a new acne-oily
skin line from Vichy they said was very good. I got a sample for the
cleansing gel and the moisturizer.
I will of course not stop using the Cutanix DRL , but I am waiting for
the 2 % salicylic acid version of the DRL, I think that should be the
ultimate anti seb derm lotion when it comes.
best wishes,
Mads L H
Has anyone tried the Acne oil cover gel from Linda Sy?
Or any other of her products?
Did anyone participate in the Cutanix 2 % salicylic acid DRL beta
testing?
thanks,
MadsLH
I really have to disagree that diet, exercise and other things of
that nature have little or no bearing on this condition. These are
things that will modulate your stress level.
If one eats a lot of crappy food , or food with ingredients that
trigger sebum production and the pityrsporum (sp?) yeast to grow and
cause flareups then it is obvious that there is a connection. If one
is deficient in the multivitamin or protein area, that is gonna
affect stress levels either in your day to day activities, or in the
general way your body processes food and gets the good stuff to your
bones, skin, teeth, etc.
I am not saying Atkins diet or anything like that- just responsible
choices.
Hi folks,
I just came across an interesting article about glycerin and it’s
reported beneficial role in skin diseases. I’ve been using it for
about three weeks to keep my face from drying out during this ol’ New
England winter. I happened to stumble across it in an old formulary
handbook at the library. I think it was called Henley’s Formulas.
Anyway,it had a formula for skin mositurizers and many used glycerin.
I did a little research and found that it is commonly used in
cosmetics as a humectant. It’s non-comedogenic and hypoallegenic. So,
off I went to look for it. I found it in a full service pharmacy in a
4 oz. bottle for $2.79 It’s a crystal clear, thick liquid, sort of
like light corn syrup. It’s mixed with water on a 1:1 basis. It’s
feels bit sticky on the skin, but it’s not greasy or irritating to
me. It has really worked well for keeping my skin moisturized in

Hi folks,
Since sebderm is an inflammatory condition, I began to wonder if any
of these treatments he suggests have any real benefit? The the three
core ingredients are alpha lipoic acid (supposedly a potent
antioxidant) and ascorbyl palmitate (a fat soluble form of vitamin
C).
I’m always very skeptical of any such claims, so I did a little
research.
In regard to aplha lipoic acid, I found the following:
Basically, it seems to be a fairly potent antioxidant, with topical
activity as well. Some researchers, Dr. Pericone included, beleive
that topically applied antioxidants have anti-inflammatory properties.

Smoothbeam Laser
The smoothbeam laser is an excellent new treatment developed to help
patients who are suffering from oily acne prone skin, and acne
scarring. Smoothbeam will also renew the skin and minimize wrinkles
and lines.
Smoothbeam can drastically reduce acne and improve the skin. The
laser is safely passed through the upper layer of skin known as the
epidermis causing no damage. The laser light targets the sebaceous
glands. These glands are responsible for the production of sebum or
oil, which cause oily skin. These are also the same glands that
become clogged and form blackheads, pustules, and cysts. The laser
heats up the gland causing changes to the gland. The treatment will
slow down the production of sebum from the glands, thus causing less
clogging in the pores. Patients will notice an improvement in their

Oral antibiotics can make seborrheic dermatitis flare out
of control.I know its difficult to say this especially to
those of you with acne and rosacea but most antibiotics
will reduce skin bacteria. This isnt a bad thing if you just
suffer from acne/rosacea.But when you throw seb derm into
the equation it becomes a totally different ball game.Certain
bacteria on our skin are needed. They feed on fungi and keep
a steady population on our skin.Without the bacteria seb derm
can get a whole lot worse.
I was wondering what folks are using these days as far as soaps or
cleansers.
Does anyone use a glycolic acid for exfoliation or what about sulfur
soap?
Has anyone used the ZNP Bar? I am looking for new ideas.
