Magic pill

Why can’t someone come up with a magic pill that makes seb derm,
rosacea and all that crap just go away and never, ever come back…?

Patience :-) This, too, will come.

I think as soon as some truly enterprising companies start working on
ideas of their own rather than rehashing existing drugs with
different formula bases. I think the elidels and protopics, while
not the full answer, are a step in the right direction. Perhaps
there will be a way to zap some cells in the immune system to allow
it to function as it should, rather than seemingly attacking itself.

I think they have to look in the direction of helping our body to
learn how to act properly, rather than trying to supress it’s
    incorrect actions.

I dont think we will see something like this in our lifetime.
As much as I admire Dr Nase and the work that he has done
I think that there are too many problems to solve for some
of us that there will be a percentage of us that will never
be able to live normal lives. Some of us have extremely thin skin
which will always overeact to internal and external factors.
Epidermal Growth Factor will be needed to correct this fault,
whether it be genetic or steroid induced.God knows when this
will be studied or available. Then theres the overeactive sebaceous
    glands,suppressed immune system,increased facial blood flow,abnormal
keratinization, abnormal blood vessel growth. For some of us the list of
problems are bigger than others. The bigger the list, the longer we
wait.I dont think that Protopic and Elidel are a step in the right
direction. We have a fault with our immune system and suppressing it
with these topicals is not leading anyone in the direction of a cure

or a magic pill.Remember topical corticosteroids have been around for
decades now and they basically do the same job as Protopic and Elidel
yet they havent lead to a better understanding of whats going on with
    our skin.

I agree with you. I believe in the medium future, once we understand
gene regulatory networks better (and how our body/immune system works
better), we will be able to activate/deactivate the right components
of the immune system. In the more distant future we will (hopefully)
be able to actually replicate much of the way the immune system works.
Eventually it will all be solved. How much time? Who knows. But I do
believe Seb Derm complete solution will be done in our life times.

Maybe you’re right. We can only hope you are wrong ;-) It is certainly
important to continue research of all aspects of SD..
