accutane treatment

Tuesday, September 14th, 2004

Hello

Can anyone give me some advice on Accutane treatment. Dermatologist
prescribed me Accutane, but when I read the brochure I was getting
pretty scared of all the side effects. He also gave me some cream. I
want to know what is the right dosage for low usage of Accutane,
because i have only seborrheic dermatitis, not the acne. Are there
any dangers with that type of treatment.

Thank you

Questions

Monday, September 13th, 2004

Just wondering a couple of things. I am worried because I have read
so much about the relationship between seb derm and Hiv. Has
everyone here already ruled out this possibility? How many females
are on this board? And were is your seb derm, how long have you been
suffering and is it constant? Subsiding and for how long? Thanks.

scaling question

Monday, September 13th, 2004

Hi All,
I’m new to the group - just joined!
I’ve had seb derm on my face for more than 10 years now, but only
developed it on my scalp last month after a hair transplant
operation (if only I knew it would happen :( ). I keep showing with
Nizoral 2% and T-Sal which seem to somewhat help with the itching
and redness, but I still have a monumental amount of scaling which
I’m not sure what’s the best way to remove (i’m not allowed to
simply peel it away).
Does anyone know of an ointment or an oil that can ‘melt’ these
away? or nothing like that exists?

I’ll greatly appreciate any help,

Didi

Lomalux Psoriasis formula

Saturday, September 11th, 2004

I’m new to this group, but have had sebderm all my life. Wondering
if anyone has ever tried a natural product (homeopathic), Lomalux
Psoriasis…it has indications for sebderm. I have a bottle (it’s a
liquid you take once daily) and will give it a try. If anyone has
tried, please post your results. I will do the same after a while.

Thanks

Did Raw Vinegar help anyone?

Wednesday, September 8th, 2004

Hello,

I am awaiting my membership at another seb.derm group who attempt to
control seb. derb by using raw vinegar. I am very curious though if
anyone on this list has tried applying it and if it helped.

Thanks!
Lana

Has anyone had any success?

Have any of you found an effective method of controlling
your seborrheic dermatitis? I know everyone is different;
but what worked for you?

Supplements and Diet

Saturday, September 4th, 2004

To the group:

I have been searching the archives and am a bit confused with the
numerous suggestions and things people use/try for Sebderm. I was
wondering what most people use for supplements for sebderm and what
supplements they avoid. And also just some general information
pertaining to diet. What sort of foods do people eat for sebderm and
avoid?
I was also wondering about cleansers and soaps. I have read many of
the posts pertaining to this. I am having a hard time finding
something that will actually cleanse my face and also not irritate or
leave that fine layer of flakes all over.
My skin is a very oily T-zone with small bumps all over. My face
tends to be very itchy. I dont have dandruff or sebderm on scalp. I
think its just my face. I have more flaking where I shave as well but

Aloe Vera?

Friday, September 3rd, 2004

Have anyone out there had any experience with Aloe Vera for their seb
derm, rosacea or both? What did you use, the gel, juice? What were
the results?

Scalpicin/Salicylic Acid

Thursday, September 2nd, 2004

Since writing my email with all the questions, I went out and tried

Scalpicin liquid: which is 3% salicylic acid.

It seems to be working quite well. I am going to try it for a couple

weeks and see how things go.

Has anyone had any experience with this?

What I like about it is that it is not greasy/can use it without having

to wash my hair all the time, and also unlike a shampoo it stays

in the hair rather than being washed out.

I didn’t want to try tar because the label said that it increases tendency to sunburn, and I am out in the sun walking a lot. (However earlier in life I ws inside most ofr the time and still had the same symptoms). Cortisone sounds too strong, and the blue shampoo like Selsun Blue has never seemed to work for me in the past.

update since i left the house of mold

Wednesday, September 1st, 2004

Hi all. Im still here. I wanted to update you on my progress since
I moved and left the house of mold behind.

First thing I did was go back to my family physician and told her
about the mold and the sebderm. (The sebderm was noticeable when I
went to visit her) Since I was already taking antibiotics, Elidel,
and a prescription shampoo, she prescribed Zyrtec (allergy
medicine).

She prescribed Zyrtec specifically for the sebderm.
She said it was possible that the sebderm was the result from allergy
attacks that I was having. Whether it be the mold or something else
and thought the Zyrtec would help. Anyway, she was right. Ive
been taking the Zyrtec daily for 3 weeks and Ive only had 2 outbreaks
of the sebderm while taking the Zyrtec. Ive gone out into the sun,
