Try this site to look at grapefruit (not grape alone) seed extract
(Higher Nature). A very effective natural anti-biotic... Colloidal
Silver (Whole Health), Garlic capsules (Bio Care, also contains 133%
RDA of Biotin) are also another options. Good luck...

I am now seriously considering this to be my solution. I have been
off antibiotics for about 6 months now, and I havent had a case of
sebderm since. I just got put back on them for strep throat 2 days
ago, and my sebderm came back overnight. I am going to quit these
pills just to see if thats the problem...

I did try biotin for a while and don't know if it helped at all--I beleive
you get plenty of this in a well balanced diet anyway--it is probably given
to infants as they don't bet enough of it in formula or breast milk.

I do strongly encourage you though, especially if you have been on
antibiotics, are on antibiotics, or even if you aren't, is to take
probitoics to restore the good intestinal flora which help to control
candida--I take about 300mgs daily of acidipholus and am quite certain it
helps my seb derm from getting to out of control--it is not a cure, but it
certainly helps.

Avoiding high sugar, high carb foods wiill also help.

The mold overgrowth thing in our homes as me baffled though--my current run
with seb derm has been going on for about three years now and started when I

moved into a brand new house that we built--before that, I had been living
in a crappy apartment that was quite old and I had no problems--if anything,
mold would have been a bigger issue in the old apartment, not the new
house--so in my case this is probably not a factor.

If youreally feel that you have candida overgrowth, you may want to talk to
your doc about oral antifungals--these can be quite dangerous drugs and not
a first line in defense against seb derm, but even low doses of it may be
beneficial--

yes and there are several other causes for candida overgrowth as
well: such as excessive stress. which may be why during stressful
times, many people suffering from seb derm experience a flare up. i
used to have a terrible diet, lots of stress, mold in my enviornment,
plus i occasionally took some antibiodics. all these factors
combined most likly caused an overgrowth in candida and that is why i
have seb derm. i wonder why the no one has made this argument
before? i wonder why they give infants with seb derm biotin, but not
adults?? the reason if probably biotin deficiency is very rare, it's
usually only seen in people who eat lots of raw egg whites and people
who take lots of antibiodics...which may be the factor in your case.
just the same, whether biotin will help or not, it may be a good idea
to start taking some. just make sure to take a multivitmain as well,
so everything is balanced.

if anyone knows anymore about candida and biotin, go ahead and post
it!

That is very interesting about the long term antibiotic use...I used all kinds of antibiotics in the past for acne, with no luck. My dr. kept me on them for 5 years or more, untill I finally quit on my own. That is about the same time I developed SD. It is under control now, and I am glad I stopped them when I did. Thanks for the info!
