What works for you? And other questions

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

My name is Laurie. I’m new to this list but not new
to seborrheic dermatitis. I’m 45, and have had it since
age 20, off and on. Right now it is "on" and I could use
some assistance.

I would like to know what works best for people? In
particular I am looking for a long term shampoo I can
use frequently over a long period of time and not cause
harm to my health, since this is a long term condition:
i.e. although I find my skin improves with hydrocortisone
cream I know this is a strong medicine and can be powerful.

I have a few other questions:

Is it okay to shampoo every day with a medicated

Another post about soft water.

Tuesday, August 31st, 2004

found this one on the rosacea site.
———————————————————————-
hey everybody,
I’d noticed that everytime I went to my parents’ house, my rosacea
started to improve and I realized that it might be because they have
a water softener (a household RO system). So I recently bought one
of those water filters that you can attatch to your sink faucet and I
only use that water to wash my face and my skin tone has improved
significantly. My father used to work for a water softening company
and explained to me that the chemicals and metallic compounds that
circulate through city water wells can trigger or cause a variety of
allergic reactions, esp to people with sensitive skin. Just thought
I’d share that info…

RE..Hard water

Sunday, August 29th, 2004

I found this post on the rosacea site.. seems like soft water
might be of great benefit to us.
———————————————————————

Since there seems to be a lot of discussion in reference to salts, I
thought
I would bring this up again. I had stated in my "new member" post
recently
that I rarely experience any major flareups any longer. I gave my
whole long
history with one aspect being that I have been using a water softener
and
have not had any major problems. I believe it is sodium chloride that
is
added to soften the water. If we are low on it or run out of it, my

Hard water

Saturday, August 28th, 2004

Ok someone correct me if i’m way off base here, but
i was thinking we all know that hard water reacts with
soap and leaves a sticky film,"soap curd" on your skin.
and each time you wash your face you get more of this
crap building up on your skin, that doesn’t rinse away.
well what is soap, but a fat…tallow…well if you
have oily skin..like most of us do..that "fat" on our
skin could be reacting with the hard water making that
crud that we have to scrap off, even if you are not using
any soap…the hard water and oil on your face creates this
crap…..Could soft water really do the trick here?..I’m
starting to think yes…many people have posted saying they
cleared up very nicely when they washed in soft water when on
vacation or at someone elses home and
returned to there crapy skin once they went back to there

Cutanix Dramatic Skin Relief: If you’ve not heard of it Please Read

Saturday, August 28th, 2004

Not mangaged to find anything on the site about the Cutinax cream so
apologies if its been a topic of discussion before.. I’ve enclosed
the web site and a extract from the claims. I know the promises of
a ‘cure’ should be taken with a lot of salt but they do offer free
samples (Max 3 * 0.4 fl Oz )where you just pay posting and packaging
(its a US group who charged $7 for delivery to the UK so not bad at
all!)

I’m currently on day 4 of the 4 week program and though not
realisable diffrences as yet it hasnt made it worse!

Extract:

Does Dramatic Relief work for everyone?Individual results vary. In a
4 week clinical study we found that 72% of patients with rosacea-

Article on childhood eczema & hard water.

A recent study has found a link between hard water and childhood
eczema. Healthy Times explores the health issues behind the
headlines. Eczema affects around one in eight children in the UK. In
its mildest form, the condition causes a few patches of dry skin, but
in severe cases, it can affect the whole body, causing persistent
itching and extreme discomfort. Frequent washing is an essential part
of the daily management of eczema, as it keeps infections at bay. But
scientists at Nottingham University have discovered that in some
cases, washing can actually aggravate the condition. A recent study,

Where is the message I posted a day or two ago? I’m new to the
group. I sent a message, got a e-mail reply to acknowledge my post
and new membership, but I’m nowhere on the board. Plus there are no
posts for the 31st. Must be a virtual Bermuda Triangle out there
