I lived in a house with a lot of hidden mold my whole life until I
was 18. I was extremely allergic(sneezing, etc) to the crap in the
house. I developed SD when I was about 13 or 14. I remember hair
dressers telling me to use a dandruff shampoo (tea tree oil shampoo)
when I was 10. I did not realize that I was allergic to mold until I
moved out of the house and lived in different houses.

When I was at college, I lived in a brand new building with no
noticable mold. My allergies(sneezing, etc.) were nonexistent.
However, I still had bad SD.

I really think that it might be possible that SD has something to do
with my body reacting allergically to something. My main thoughts
are that I have mold inside my body(Candida, etc.) or maybe I have a
food allergy.
<!--more-->

WILL SOMEONE PLEASE TRY REMOVING ALL GLUTEN AND DAIRY FROM THEIR DIET
FOR 2 OR MORE WEEKS. For more information on gluten containing foods
go to www.celiac.com. I have tried this but have always "fallen of
the wagon" after 2 or 3 days.

I totally agree! I had allergy shots as a child and felt I
had "outgrown" them all, since I had no problems for years. Then I
moved to this house and my baby was born the wk after, and my
allergies came back full force (along w/ my skin probs) and I always
said the baby stripped my immunity. Now I think your theory may be
more correct...we have horrible stuff grow outside on the cement plus
lots of standing water when it rains cuz the drainage is non-
existant, not to mention the carpet was SOAKED the day we moved in
(the carpet cleaners had steam-cleaned the day before) (we rent).
Plus the tub leaked thru the living rm ceiling at one point, and the
maintenance (after fixing the leak) basically spackled and painted
over the soggy ceiling and called it good. SO theres no telling what
is under the carpet and inside these walls after 30yrs of these kind
of "repairs"!!

<!--more-->
Am anxious to hear what happens w/ your testing, Nick!

update -- I just talked with a mold specialist in town and they
confirmed that my dermatitus and allergies could definately be a
result from the mold inside this house. They are coming out
tomorrow to do testing. I'll post the results tomorrow.

i know my allergies have always been bad ever since i moved into this
house. and everything seems to make sense after reading your post.

this could easily explain my problems with sebderm over the past year
as well. ive had the dry flaky scalp for over two years now and the
itchy scalp just started in the past 6 months.

I moved into this house 2.5 years ago and Ive encountered water leaks
inside the walls, as well as severe mold problems that I am still
trying to resolve.
I replaced the living room carpet last year and when i tore the
carpet out, there was moldy tile underneath. And this past week, i
started working in one of the guest bedrooms and pulled up the carpet
in there and found more moldy tile.

<!--more-->
ive always wondered if my health problems were related to this house
somehow ..... maybe its true.

thank you for the post. i will look into this further.
