There some folks on on another sd board having success with
raw/unfiltered (not supermarket brand) apple cider vinegar.

He/she is an idiot. I'm glad you stopped using them.

How long do they have you on the doryx? If for longer than a month
or so it *might* cause issues. Elidel worked pretty good for me if I
use it for a couple of days and then stop for a week and a half. It
tended to give me a burning sensation. I've been using protopic in
some spots but it is something you would probably only want to use at
night (greasy look)

> Anyone else have flare-ups associated with with heat/steam. Can
> anyone explain to me why this happens with heat ???

<!--more-->
I've gotten them from time to time, although recently I haven't had
them. I think what has helped me is to wash my hair twice a day.
Once in the evening and once at night. I also turn down the temp
when I rinse my hair.

I do too; I use the water from my kitchen sink to wash with--I have a
water filter there (Pur) and it seems to clear it out enough to make
it alright for me.

Nick,
Welcome--I think you are on the right track with the Elidel and the
supplements and diet--never tried doryx though.

Heat and steam may make seb derm worse as it causes you to sweat--you have a
lot of sweat glands on your scalp and forehead, this can trigger a flare of
seb derm in some people (it does for me). Best thing to do is to avoid
sweating as much as possible, this is hard especially if you are active in
sports,--you can also try cutting your hair shorter if it is on the long
side, this helps to minimize sweating a little bit.

Staem rooms and saunas are no good, as you also want to avoid going from one
temperature extreme to another--this is a common cause of flares in those
with atopic dermatitis as well--not sure why, but it just happens.

<!--more-->
Give the eildel another shot with avoiding sweating and temp extremes and it
should clear you up again.
