Help! Oiliness!
Does anyone have any good advice for excessive oiliness, mostly on
the forehead, but sort of all over the face???
I’ve started using Loprox and while it’s only been a couple of days I
have noticed more oil on my face. Any tips to dry this up?
Thanks,
Tim

Tim, not to belabor the point, but you could try the
tea tree oil for that. The other thing I’d suggest is
the oil absorbing pads you can get at the drug store.
Have you tried those? They look like a little piece
of thin blue paper, but they have these capillaries
built in and they literally suck all of the oil off of
your skin. I never leave home without them, but then
again, I am a girl and I carry a purse! You could,
however, take 4 of them out of the package and put
them in your wallet, then every few hours, dab off the
oil. You just dab, not wipe, and it only takes a
couple of seconds. I probably do it twice in the
course of my 8-9 hour workday. I’ve noticed that my
sebderm seems to worsen if I let the oil just sit
there all day, so it might even help lessen the
irritation/flakes a LITTLE.
For me, it just helps tremendously with the comfort
level, and it looks better. It is so uncomfortable to
me to have my face feel oily.

Hello,
Where do you find tea tree oil?

Hi Tim,
the best thing that has helped control my oily skin has been to apply
Milk of Magnesia(Philips brand plain not flavored) to any of the oily
areas of my face and let dry for 10-15 minutes. You could also try
Paula’s Choice Oil Absorbing Facial Mask which is basically the same
thing but it is much easier to apply and to rinse off. The best thing
about these products is that they do not irritate my SD, and they
really do help to control oil. Tim can you tell me how you like the
Loprox cream so far and has it helped?
Thanks,
Gus

I have been using some that Paul Mitchell sells as
part of his hair care line. I buy it at places that
sell salon hair care products. I have seen it all
over wherever they carry his Tea Tree line.

Where do these dumb-ass pharmaceutical companies get
there ingredients from.Tim,I tried the Loprox and
experienced the same problem. The last thing that we
need is an increase in sebum especially from a product
developed specifically for our condition. The best advice
I can give you to reduce the sebum is to throw the Loprox
in the bin.

Yes, I only used Loprox (.77 concentration) for 5 days, but I did
notice a significant increase in oiliness. I was hoping that it’s
antifungal effects would outweigh whatever oiliness it caused. I’m
still considering trying the 1% concentration to see if a more
powerful formulation might help.
How long did you try it for Rory? What happened?

I only used it for a few days and I noticed the increase
in sebum after the second day.I cant understand why these
pharmaceutical companies cant get it right. Why cant these
guys just put the active ingredient into a simple water
based cream.
