new here, a suggestion to everyone

Saturday, July 31st, 2004

hi

i’ve had seb derm for around 4 years now. I can remember years ago
getting bad dandruff for about a month and ever since then it never
came back. Instead it transformed into oily, red/pink, flaky patches
and some acne. This has persisted a long time and I never really
knew what it was so I never had it checked out, plus I had bad
hygiene and eating habits that only made it worse. I’ve been using
ellidel, nizoral and other remedies for some months, with little
effect.

i’ve been doing a lot of research and here’s my suggestion to
everyone on this board since no one has apparently brought it up
before…

My Experience with ACV

Thursday, July 29th, 2004

Hello…

Just thought I would post something i have tried in the last few days..
I have seb derm and rosacea..(mostly some constant redness and some
bumpyness at times) Any way i had been reading posts about Apple cider
Vinegar with mother (Braggs) for seb derm and decided to give it a
try. I have been putting it on my scalp and around my ears and on some
patches on my face.. (for 4 days now) There is no doubt that it is
working.. my worst patches around my ears are completely gone right
now. I also (with much trepidation) decided to put it on a patch of
rosacea on my cheek. it has not made it go away ..but it has
improved. Perhaps more importantly (and frankly this shocked me due
to the acidity) it has not made it worse.

so i guess i am posting this for those of you with seb derm and

ACV & ME

Tuesday, July 27th, 2004

Hi U’All, Things haven’t been goin too good with the ACV these days,
it’s causing tiny pimples on my face. I’ve stopped using it there. It
has worked for the dandruff though! I’m now lookin at the stuff the
bees produce so I guess I’ll be tryin that for a while. My skin is
just so sensitive. Apart from the seb derm problem I realize now that
I also have steroid induced rosacea.
Imagine, I visited a dermatologist some yrs ago for mild seb derm,
given Desowen (steroid), eventually ended-up with a face covered with
sd & rosacea. It’s like where did my pretty face go! Yes people, I
once had a beautiful face but steroids turned a mole hill into a
mountain! But I refuse to give in. Gayelle

eyebrow (t-zone). the amount of honey I started with was about 1
level tea-spoon.

newbie alert continued - hehe

Monday, July 26th, 2004

I forgot to add that the doc also gave me a prescription shampoo
called Capex. (In addition to the doryx and elidel cream …..)

I am to use it for 2 weeks and then use it 1x a week along with 3-4
other shampoos (T-Gel, DMS, ….)

Can anyone recommend good shampoos ????

Cheers.

Nick

newbie alert . hehe

Monday, July 26th, 2004

hey everyone. glad to know i am far from alone with the SD battle.

Ive spent the past 45 minutes reading and searching posts and Ive
read that low sugar/carb diets helps, borage oil helps, Siberian
Ginseng works, ACIDOPHILUS works … Anything else that I might
have missed ???

Heres a brief bio bout me ….

Im 29 yr male in Nebraska and SD came into my life just recently. I
have red bumps and itching on my scalp, and red bumps / flaking on my
forehead.

The first dermatologist put me on Cormax straight up and told me to
use it 24/7 regardless of the warnings of excessive usage. I used it

The longest study on seb derm

Friday, July 23rd, 2004

This is the longest study that I have ever found on seb derm(6
months). If anyone has found one that is as long or longer I would
love to see it.It always surprises me that all studies on new
anti-fungal drugs only last for 1 to 2 months without examining
the long term effectiveness.

Retin A

Thursday, July 15th, 2004

I have been reading info on possible causes of SebDerm. I came across
an article that talked about some people developing SD as a side
effect from using Retin A for acne. I used Retin A for 4 years with
hardly any results, yet my Dr. urged me to continue my use of this
product. After 4 years I finally gave up and discontinued using it.
My face cleared up and I was extremly happy for a few months, untill
I had my first case of SD. Now that I have my SD under control (took
me a year to figure out I was allregic to almost anything that
touched my face) but I still get the flakes. This is all due to the
thinning of my skin from the years on Retin A. Has anyone used Retin
A in the past?

Ovace cleanser??

Sunday, July 11th, 2004

Has anyone tried this cleanser yet? its a
new facial cleanser for people with seb derm..
I think you need to get it from your doctor..
Anyway it sounds good…it has to be better then washing your
face with shampoo.
I wonder if its available in canada yet?….anybody?

thanks.
