Apple cider and Tea tree oil
Hey all,
I’m new to the group but have been following messages for a while.
The problem i have is a bit of redness on the top of my head about 1
inch by 2 inches, no noticeable flaking but sometimes a little
iching. My hair is also a bit thin in this area. It grows back a good
amount but will shed all of a sudden. This has happened about 6
times. Two derms have told me it is not alopecia areata. One says
it’s a dermatitis, the other says it’s seb derm. Both gave me
steroids which i think made it worse. I don’t want to use steroids
and never will again unless i have to. I can control things with the
usual shampoos (nizarol, tsal) and have begun using tea tree oil
shampoo which i think may be very good for this. I’m also looking
into the whole diet thing seriously. I have a good diet but never
really worried about sugar until now. I’ve also been trying hard for
a couple of years to kick a nasty chewing tabbaco habit. I basicaly
have kicked it for the most part but still do it from time to time. I
really think this may be a trigger to worsen the seb derm. I would
really like to hear anyones opinion on this. I’m caffien free for
ever. My problem is not severe at least compared to some of the
problems i see people write about but it’s still annoying. i just
can’t seem to get rid of the redness. It’s the hair thinning thats
really got me bummed. I’m 40 years old so hair thinning is not
uncommon but i just don’t think it’s normal balding.
Anyway i have read hear about apple cider and tee tree. My questions
are how to use them and maybe hear from someone who has similar
problems as me and who has had luck or no luck with these products. I
bought the apple cider vinagar and a tee tree oil lotion. maybe i
should try the pure tea tree oil liquid. How much should these
produts be diluted? How long should i leave them on? I also got my
fre sample of DRL for sensitive skin.
About 8 years ago i developed redness on the sides of my nose a
couple of times. It never got real bad and cleared up on it’s own. i
didn’t know what it was. I thought it was dry skin and used lotion on
it. About 2 years ago i developed bad redness in my mustache area
that was bad enough to make a visit to derm. he told me it was seb
derm and gave me a steroid. Cleared it up 95% in less than 2 hours
and 100% over night, no problem since. Same steroid did nothing on my
scalp after a few days. This is the extent of my seb derm problems. I
guess i’m kind of lucky.
I guess i’m really interested in hearing from anyone but mostly from
someone who has similar problems as me (scalp, hairloss, tabbaco
use,ect ect.) the use of products i mentioned.
Thanks all, Chris

Hey Chris,
Welcome to the other side man. As many gods there are in the heavens, as
many forms of skin disorders there are. Everyone has there own
interpretation and treatments for the disorder. Tea-tree shampoos have
worked well for me and I to avoid the steroids. I am also on a strict diet,
and if i ever smoke or drink for some reason it comes back.
Good luck bro
