apple cider vinegar
A few weeks ago some people were going to try topical applications of
apple cider vinegar. If you’ll have tried it, could you please post
some feedback.
Thanks

Hi
I live in the UK and have got my hands on Cider Vinegar from my local supermarket.
Is this the same as Apple Cider Vinegar that members are finding so beneficial for seb derm?
Kind regards
Jason

Probably not. However, I don’t know that it matters either. I’ve
heard plenty of folks just use plain old apple cider vinegar and got
results. You might join the sd/acv board and ask…there were one or
two people that didn’t have access to raw, unfiltered acv. I know in
some cases there was varying strength of acidity.

Probably not.. Take a look at the site above. one of the few in the
UK that sell the real McCoy.

Anyone have any thoughts on this treatment ?
May 9th, 2005 at 4:01 pm
Could taking apple cider vinegar pills be benificial for seb derm?
May 14th, 2005 at 8:27 pm
Sean,
Apple cider vinegar kicks arse!
I really insist, I was a total sceptic and actually didn’t get along
well with the moderator of the other group. But I can’t deny that
ACV works as a treatment for Seborrheic Dermatitis. He claims that
no-one with pure SD has EVER failed to clear it using his routine.
Work a look, isn’t it…….I’ll testify to ACV’s effectiness anytime.
My regards,
Scott.

Its all very well using ACV but if you have other conditions like
eczema like i have then all it does is irritate the hell out of it.
It really made the eczema bad, i stuck with it for 3 weeks (and the
really bad smell that goes with it) and the SD just got redder and
redder and the ezcema just got drier and drier and i got very
spotty. And not to mention the fact that the diet was not ezcema
friendly.. Pasta.. various other things, alot of the foods in there
are on my total avoid list so it was impossible to go with that.
I really went into the treatment though and did it properly but its
definetly not for me. But like he says - anyone with PURE SD… but
half the people about dont even know its SD for sure including the
docs.
It made my hair the healiest it has ever been for ages though, thick
and shiney, fantastic for that. I dont get SD on the scalp at all,
just around the nose and some on my chin. Tried so many things to
get rid of it and nothing seems to work, back on the steroids right
now though just on the nose, and wish i wasnt cos i hate using it.
I used to get eczema all over the body but that seems to be 90%
better these last few years but the SD appeared about 3 yrs ago.
Probably due to way to much steroids on the face when i used to slap
it on the eczema. I am almost steroid free apart from that annoying
bright red nose and chin.

Please guys, just what Is the ACV treatment? Or where exactly can I
find the details? Thanks

It is simple–buy a bottle of apple cider vinegar at a store and saturate
your scalp several times a week–you can either leave it in overnight or
rinse it out after letting it sit on scalp for at least ten minutes each
time you use it.
The first few times you may feel some burning–this is normal until your
skin adjusts to the acidity, which may take a few days but continue with
using the treatment. I find the ACV workls great on the scalp but not very
good for the facial skin

hey all,
A lot of you have talked about taking apple cider vinegar and
because i’m planning on getting pregnant soon i think i should switch
to a more natural approach. I’ve been taking Luxiq, which works really
well and salex cream, which didn’t seem to do much or just worked
slowly. Does anyone know if apple cider vinegar is something you can
take while your pregnant? I’m assuming so, but i’m not sure. Well, I’m
sure it’s posted, but i didn’t know how to take it. full strength?
once a day, twice, how much? can you put it on your scalp? Anything
you could tell me would help.
I don’t think i have seb derm that bad, although their is the
occasional break out and flare up. The newest spot was on my eyelids,
and it’s really annoying. Usually it’s on my scalp, along my hair
line, or on the back of my neck.

I really don’t know if I’m doing this right, but basically, I take a
swig of ACVM a day with something to wash it down, and every so often
I dilute a bit of it in water and wash my face with it. It seems to
be doing me good- but I get a bit flaky afterward.
My question- is there any research on how potentially bad for one’s
stomach this could be?? I mean, vinegar is pretty potent stuff- are
we risking any sort of rupturing of the stomach?
April 13th, 2006 at 8:47 pm
Your stomach produces hydrochloric acid, which has a lower pH (is more
acidic) than salad vinegar. Once the vinegar gets past the esophagus,
I doubt a healthy stomach would have much trouble with it. But a
chaser is probably a good idea.
April 20th, 2006 at 4:17 am
Since you’re not drinking much more ACV than is in a good salad, I
don’t think it’ll be harmful to your stomach in any way. But I *have*
seen people mention that it’s really bad for your teeth. Drink with a
straw, or rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards.

Hey Robert
Can i ask where you have those small pink patches at on your face?
And if your not sure that you have SD or Rosacea will the ACV work
for both?
September 21st, 2006 at 12:11 pm
did u have to dilute it at first ?
if so for how long ?
September 21st, 2006 at 10:20 pm
also how long do you have to keep it on ?
do you use a maintenance dose ?
thanks

You have to join the apple cider vinegar group post an introduction
and then you’ll be allowed access to the sister group which has all
the information on the routines. But heres the jist of the routines
First off go out and buy yourself some apple cider vinegar with
MOTHER it’ll probably be hard to find in any shops so its best to
just order it off the internet. Remember the ACV has to have the
MOTHER (the mother is basically just bacteria left over from the
distilling process) filtered Apple Cider Vinegar you buy in a
supermarket without a mother is just no good.
The second step is to give up all steroids, creams, lotions,
ointments, shampoos, soaps stop using any of that crap on your face
and just wash your face with water. Chances are if youve been using
steroid creams on your face your face will get worse before it gets
better its called steroid withdrawal.
Once you got the ACV in the post.Take a shower then drench your face
and scalp and any other affected areas with ACV.Do not spot apply
the ACV apply the ACV to 100 % of your face and scalp. If youve been
using
steroid creams to keep your SD under control applying full strength
ACV to your face may not be such a good idea you may have to dilute
the ACV before applying it to your face the first few times and work
your way up to full strength ACV.Your SD will probably a little
redder than usual for about twenty minutes after applying the acv.
Do all of this twice a day until you clear after that you’ll only
need to drench your scalp about once a week and your face once a day
after a shower.
Take a couple of spoonfuls of acv a day. You can dilute it in water
if that helps. I personally take shot it before I go to bed every
night
Your gonna have to give up eating a lot a junk food at least until
your clear and then you can start introducing junk food back into
your diet and figure out what foods affect your sd. So heres a list
of foosds to avoid
Sugar/sweet stuff -avoid all sugary treats
Greasy food/Fast food/Fatty food
Bread/any food with yeast (yoghurt)- This along with coffee is
probably the hardest food to avoid
Vitamin E tablets
Cheese
Coffee
Junk food of any kind
Peanuts/Oily food
Crackers
I’ve probably forgotten some of them
It may take weeks to clear especially if you’ve been using steroids
on your face for years, the first time i tried the acv routines I
gave up because I thought it was a load of bullshit but trust me it
works you just gotta stick with it. If you want any more advice join
the acv and read some of the users previous posts.
Apple Cider Vinegar Group where you post your introduction. Theresa
also a couple of links on there for websites were you can buy apple
cider vinegar with mother
Sister group wit all the routines

I have about three light pink patches each about the size of a spot,
i have two on my nose and one just above my right eyebrow. I must
stress that they are barley noticeable at all, they are a very very
light shade of pink. Im sure if I completley followed the recommended
diet and the routines id be 100% clear but im not prepared to eat
like a vegan for the rest of my life.Im am pretty sure I don’t have
rosascea,Ive only had SD for about a year and a half and ive only
ever used steroid creams on my face a couple of times at the most so
my chances of having steroid induced rosacea are highly unlikely.
before I discovered ACV i was using all kinds of
vitamins, supplements, antifungal creams and dandruff shampoos to try
and control my SD with varying degrees of sucess but the only thing
ive ever found that worked was ACV
September 25th, 2006 at 8:15 am
Oh so you dont have any syptoms on your chin or cheeks? Thats where
mostly have my symptoms. a very mold pink color on my chin and
cheeks. No scaling that i can see. My nose is scaly tho..
September 25th, 2006 at 8:24 pm
My worst problem is typically my hairline and ears. While diet can
help to some degree, another thing that has been very helpful to me
is looking for shampoos and facial cleansers without sodium lauryl
sulfates, which is a known irritant to sensitive skin.
If I’m flaring up, I generally use either Phytosylic by Phyto or
Aubrey Organics selenium.
If things are generally under control, I’ll usually alternate one of
the above shampoos with Phytoneutre or Phytopanema.
I get the Phyto shampoos through drugstore.com because it is part of
the Ebates.com system. Through Ebates I get 5% back and through their
Drugstore Dollars I get an additional 5% (though Drugstore Dollars
are only redeemable for additional purchases unlike a rebate/ebate).

acv still burns my skin after 15 months of use. wish my skin was less
sensitive to it
September 26th, 2006 at 7:22 pm
MOTHER is vinegar bacteria - it looks like bits in the bottom of the
bottle and just shows that the vinegar is not unnaturally pure.
Martlet is a uk version which has mother.
September 27th, 2006 at 12:08 am
ever try diluting it ?
September 30th, 2006 at 4:33 am
Im giving it a go at 90%
Any less and it doesn’t work at all. anyone had any luck with
different concentrations?
September 30th, 2006 at 10:03 am
It all depends on your skin type. Me I use 100% undiluted ACV and it
doesnt burn at all.

Can anyone please tell me how Apple cider vinger works with SD. My 10
year old daughter was diagonsed with SD two years ago. She has it only
on her scalp, and it is pretty bad. Lots of flakes and some itching. I
was told because of her age to dilute the vinegar 50/50? I am
wondering how to use it, how often to use it and for how long. Should
it be used continually for maintance? Thanks, Julie

Julie,
Your questions will be answered if you search the web for: Raw Apple
Cider vinger.
