sebderm & dry skin?
Is it possible to have seborrheic dermatitis and not have oily skin?
Mine is really dry. No Rash, scales or flakes.

Yes–I have very dry skin as well but still get seb derm flares.
But if you don’t have rash, scales or flakes, then what makes you think you
have seb derm–do you get redness at all–maybe you just have dry skin in
the seb derm areas that could be treated with some good moisturizers–

Thanks for the response…
A dermatologist diagnosed me with sebderm. She didn’t ask me hardly
any questions and didn’t do any testing. I researched sebderm and
found that I didn’t have the "classic symptoms" of it. No oily skin,
no flakes, scales, peeling, redness, rash blisters. My skin is very dry
and itches and I have severe hair loss. I’m thinking I was
misdiagnosed…I’m not sure.

Oh yeah! I actully started out with extremely dry skin, but as I
began to wash my face several times a day my face got more and more
oily to the point I had to wash it several times at work, and I knew
only Accutane could get this problem under control. And so it did.

I would go to a different derm and get another opinion–seb derm can cause
hair loss as I have lost about 40% of my eyebrows in the past three years
but I have most of the classic symptoms.
You may have some type of alopecia coupled with eczema or some other type of
contact dermatitis/atopic dermatitis–just because you have problems on the
scalp or face does not mean you have seb derm and if the only symptoms are
itching and dry skin, I would think you do not have seb derm.
Go see another doc first, especially about the hairloss because that can be
permanent–when you call around for a derm, ask the receptionist nurse if
the doc has extensive experience in hairloss/alopecia/dermatitis–some of
these guys are second rate or just specialize in skin cancer and know squat
about seb derm/rosacea/dermatitis and some are top notch and you don’t want
to waste your time and money finding the right one–sometimes it is still
unavoidable but asking a few questions first may help narrow it down to one
or two to choose from
Are you male or female–could hairloss just be male pattern baldness and the
itching/dry skin is just a coincidence?
