Glad to be here!

Sunday, February 15th, 2004

Hi everybody,

I’m new around here, but have been a sebderm sufferer for
approximately 18 months now. It has been quite bad at some stages,
but reasonably bearable at others.
I have so many questions to ask, but will try and read some of the
posts here first - I might learn a lot from those.
By the way, I’m from Belgium.
Season’s Greetings to all.

Got my essex lotion? How do I use it?

Sunday, February 15th, 2004

seasons greetings. I haven’t posted in a while. I had an IPL
treatment on my rosacea 4 weeks ago and I was/am very happy with the
reduction in that stingy, burny, rosacea feelings. My sebderm is
starting to go wild as it always does. I mangaed to get some Essex (
or DML ) and now I am wondering who else uses this. 1X a day. 2X a
day. With anyother sederm topical? what about a cleanser?? trying to
find a balance between not irritating the rosacea and cleaning my
face is a real struggle. Maybe, 2003 will bring some break through.
All the best.

And thanks for all the support in 2002.

Severe dandruff problem - serb derm

Friday, February 13th, 2004

I have just been told by my derm, that what i thought was severe
dandruff (scaly and itchy), is actually serb derm.

Doc has prescribed an anti-dandruff shampoo (2-3 times a week) and a
lotion (in case it gets severe - to be applied at the specific
location) and a cream (to be applied on the face.. for the eyebrows,
sideburns and ear lobes area).

Just joined the group and would like to know more .. !!

Thanks,
Vinay

What to Drink?

Thursday, February 12th, 2004

I’m trying to adjust my diet to avoid carbs and sugar. I’m having
problems finding things to drink. I used to drink alot of fruit
juices and softdrinks but that’s out. I’ve been drinking club soda
now (no sugar). I’ve also been drinking alot of green tea and some
decaf coffee. Is that okay?

What else can I drink that won’t cause problems? How about water
with some kind of non-sugar flavoring? Any suggestions would be
greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Accutane & DRL

Saturday, February 7th, 2004

Just got back from the derm myself, and I finally got him to
prescribe Accutane (20 mg) for my oily skin. I’ll be taking two pills
a day for 4-6 weeks, then two pills a day only one week per month. He
feels that should be enough to combat my oily skin and some minor
acne problems. I’ll continue to use DRL for my seb derm and as a
moisturizer. We’ll see what happens…

After trying everything I could think of to get my
skin to stop peeling, itching and flaking I went to
the dr. He gave me samples of Protopic. He told me to
use Cetaphil as my cleanser and Vanicream as
moisturizer. This stuff is on my neck and has really
done a number on my face. Have any of you used
Protopic? If so, how long does it take to work? I’m
looking forward to reading about what others are
using.
I really don’t know much about it so anything anyone
can tell me would be helpful. One of my big concerns
was that it was catching but my dr. assured me that it
wasn’t. I’m glad someone told me about this group and
I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can.

Diet & Acne.

Friday, February 6th, 2004

Eating processed breads and cereals could be a significant factor
behind teenage acne, according to US scientists.

A team of researchers, led by Professor Loren Cordain from Colorado
State University in Fort Collins, believe that because highly
refined breads and cereals are easily digested, the resulting sugar
rush created in the body results in high levels of insulin and
insulin-like growth factor (IGF-1).

High levels of these chemicals result in an excess of male hormones,
which cause the skin to produce large amounts of sebum - the greasy
substance beloved by acne-promoting bacteria.

Furthermore, IGF-1 is known to encourage skin cells called
keratinocytes to multiply, which is a feature of acne, according to

Message from Cutanix: A chance to get a free full-sized bottle of DR

Wednesday, February 4th, 2004

Dear Friends of Cutanix,

Because Cutanix’ primary mission is to discovering and developing
novel skincare products, the lion’s share of our operating budget
continues to be directed towards Research & Development and very
little on marketing. In fact, Cutanix remains a company with no
marketing department, which makes it extremely difficult to get the
word out about our company and the products we have to offer. This is
where you come in!

We have found that the few dermatologists and skincare professionals
who currently dispense Dramatic Relief to their patients are
experiencing great success. They find many of their patients who had
once, untreatable conditions, are enjoying relief while using DRL and
without resorting to harsh prescription drugs. After they learn about

Adrenal Gland

Wednesday, February 4th, 2004

Good morning all,
over the past week I had a cough that just wouldnt go away. I finally
forced myself and went to the doctors. It wasnt an infection the doctor
told me only inflamation of the throat (tickle) which made it itch and thus
forcing me to cough. The doctor said he could give me a shot for that, he
explained to me that the shot is not a vaccine or an antibiotic only that it
reacts similar to a cortizone shot it that it stimulates the adreanal gland
to produce more cortizone and it works systematically to all areas of the
body that are inflammed, as my throat. I then asked him if it should do a
job on my dermatits, and he said yes it should work for that to. I just got
the shot this morning, i wondering how my cough would turn out and also
wondering how my skin will be. Has anyone done any research on the Adrenal
Gland. As researching online, the Adrenal Gland produces hormones and a
natural cortizone for inflamation of the body, i am wondering if we all have
an Adrenal Gland defieciency. I will keep you guys informed on the shot.
