Borage Oil Question

Friday, January 30th, 2004

Ralph (or anyone else taking borage oil),
Maybe this is already in the archives somewhere, but how many
milligrams of borage oil do you recommend taking each day?
Thanks,
Tim

Doctors on Accutane?

Thursday, January 29th, 2004

Someone mentioned a couple of doctors who prescribed Accutane to
themselves for treating seb derm. For how long did they take it? Does
it have to become something long lasting or is a few months/years
enough?

Thanks..

What is it? Need some remedies for the flakies. Once they start my skin
starts to clog up an break out. I’vve heard about Borage Oil supplements.
I’ve taken in the past Udo’s Choice Oil supplements as well as zinc
supplements and dont know that I saw a difference. I got pregnant and had
to stop everything. I’ve heard others mention tea tree oil facial wash by
the body shop. I have protopic but its not something you can spread all over
if you whole face is dry. Its too emollient anyway. Some ideas would be
helpful. Thanks

Fwd: RE: Facewash?

Tuesday, January 27th, 2004

My doctor had this to say:

>The same types of shampoos that treat seborrhea of the hair
>can treat your face. [See below for more.]

My question is, aren’t there different types of dandruff
shampoo with entirely different ‘active ingredients’?

The active ingredient in Denorex Medicated Dandruff Shampoo
is now Salicylic Acid 1.8% (they no longer use coal tar).

I had to stop using DENOREX as I had quite a reaction to
it … it made my dandruff WORSE and irritated my face just
from the contact … yet I am not allergic to Salicylic Acid.

Regime Change

Tuesday, January 27th, 2004

Don’t worry, this is not about Iraq.

For the last 5 months I’ve been using selenium sulfide (first in Head
and Shoulders Extra Strength 1%, then in Exsel shampoo 2.5%). But,
inevitably, it is losing it’s effectiveness now. I’m getting more
redness and oiliness on my face, although not the usual dryness. My
plan is to switch back to Nizoral for a while. That is, unless anyone
has any other suggestions for something different to try. I’ve
thought about trying DRL, but Nizoral has always worked pretty well
for me (for a few months at least), so I’m leaning towards going back
to the "sure thing". Anyway, your thoughts would be very much
appreciated.

I hope everyone is doing well out there.

Just got my Protopic? Who else ues this??

Monday, January 26th, 2004

Finally saw a derm on Friday. He was very knowledgeable about Elidel
but it is not available in canada but he gave me the protopic. He
said that it would take care of the sebderm. I have rosacea and he
agreed that any sort of cortisone would not be good for me. I used it
this AM and again afew mintues ago. No reaction this AM but now my
forehead ( th eonly palce I used it ) feels kinda stingy. Seems to be
lessening and it is not unpleasant or unbearable.
Just wanted to get some tips from those of you who actually use the
stuff.
Thanks again
Linda

Facewash?

Saturday, January 24th, 2004

Hi!

I am new here and am a sufferer of Seborrhoeic Dermatitis
(though certainly not as severely as many).

My seborrhoeic dermatitis seems greatly related to my
allergies, which in my case are quite severe.

My main question today is: can someone please recommend a
fashwash/soap for those with this type of skin condition?

Thanks.

Yours,
Richard of Atlanta
