my solution to share

Saturday, November 29th, 2003

i use generic lotrimin cream on my face, ears and scalp( i have a buzzcut). i
also refrain as much as possible from consuming anything containing
yeast(breads, beer etc.), or anything fermented or pickled(pickles, soy
sauce, wine etc.). i take a tablespoon or two each day of udo’s choice
perfected oil blend since i learned borage, flaxseed and fish oils are
imbalanced supplements and had made my skin worse when i used them. lastly i
eat active culture yogurt and take an acidophilus tablet daily. my former
crusty flaky skin is now soft, velvety and supple( being a man, that seems a
hard thing to brag about but it’s true, lol).

Something that worked for me….

Friday, November 28th, 2003

Hi all…

Since Seb Derm is supposed to be a fungus and the prescription
hydrocortisone cream (Locoid) from the doctor isn’t working, I
decided to try an over-the-counter antifungal cream.

I chose Lotrimin Ultra (Butenafine Hydrochloride). They market two
versions - one for jock itch and one for athlete’s foot - they are
the same, just marketed differently. I have been using it twice a day
since last Monday (9/30) and everything seems to be cleared up. I
have no swelling, redness or flaking. I do have a little dry skin
which lotion is taking care of.

I don’t expect it to be a permanent solution, but it was the only
thing that helped me this time around.

my theory

Tuesday, November 18th, 2003

Hey guys,
I believe it must be an invasion of some sort, not neccessarily on the skin
itself. I am guessing its something internal. Reason being, I have never
had Seb derm, until i was 24. I am now 26. I remember when the seb derm
flare ups first began coming out of the shower and sometimes during the day,
I went to an allergist, the allergist did not know what it was either at
first but she did percribe me some anti-biotics. The seb derm was
completely gone for two weeks, I thought that the problem was solved but
after 2 weeks it came back again. Dermatologists now wont perscribe
antibiotics for seb derm only giving us steroid or fungul creams. Because
the seb derb went away for two weeks while on antibiotics, I MEAN COMPLETELY
CLEAR, I could have cried those 2 weeks, I am guessing that something around
24 had invaded my body. You could go crazy reading studies of fungul
bacteria living inside your water pipes as you drink them, or even breathe
them when they become airborne in the shower. I am still researching.

Propecia side effects.

Friday, November 7th, 2003

Propecia Side Effects
Mild Propecia Side Effects: decreased libido (typically resolves with
continued use), decreased testosterone, hives or rash, lip swelling,
male breast enlargement (rare). These side effects are more likely
with a 5 mg dose of Proscar, and less common with a 1 mg dose of
Propecia.

Serious Propecia Side Effects: genital deformities in male infants,
oversensitivity.

Cautions: While Propecia is generally a very safe medication for
males over 12 years of age, there are certain precautions that should
be taken during its use.

Allergies - An allergic reaction to this medication indicates that

The state of my skin..

Tuesday, November 4th, 2003

Hey there fellow sufferers.. well, things aren’t too happy over here.
I received the new Cutanix DRL sensitive skin formula a few days ago,
and I’m afraid it just doesn’t seem to work for me. The combination
that seemed to make me look best was when I was on antibiotics for
mild acne and using the SAL3 soap every night.. and H&S Intensive
Treatment for my scalp/face. I’m going back to my derm on Wednesday
and I will once again ask for a low Accutane dose, and what he (and
I) thought was acne is more likely to be Pityrosporum Folliculitis,
and I’ll see what he can do about that.. and to make things even more
jolly, and suspect that this redness on and around the nose isn’t
just seb derm but could be rosacea, it never seems to go away for
more than a few hours once in a while..

sal3 soap

Monday, November 3rd, 2003

Hi,
Well, as I am waiting for my Zia gentle face cleanser to arrive in
the mail, I used the Sal3 soap sporadically, and it has an effect on
the seb derm. I think the trick is to start out very carefully, so as
not to irritate the skin. anyways, I will order the Acne oil
control gel from www.lindasy.com, Ive heard it is a good seb derm
product. Linda Sy is a derm with her own line of products, and she
answers emails and gives good advice.

Anyways, hope those who are going to try the new DRL will have
benefit from it. I heard that they had to change one of the
ingredients because it was comodogenic, but that it was not a big
deal. Lets hope for the best.

best wishes,
