methylsulfonylmethane
Can anyone comment on the use of methylsulfonylmethane in the
treatment of sd. I came across it in an internet article. I believe
it comes in supplement form.

This is sometimes referred to as MSM. A msg was posted on rosacea
forum on 6-14, leading to richdistributing.com, where far-reaching
claims are made for this stuff. However, at least it is cheap. I
have ordered a bottle of lotion to try it out.

One of the things that our company is doing is comparing all of the
competitive products active ingredients with ours to see how we stack
up against the competition in a number of inflammation assays. One of
the compounds we have tested is MSM (its one of the main ingredients
in "Blue Stuff" by the way). We have found that at least for
inflammation it doesn’t do much of anything. It cannot inhibit any of
the inflammatory mediators we look at (in a number of skin cell
types). Someone said on the rosacea board that it has a role as an
anti-fungal or anti-yeast? At any rate, as far as an anti-
inflammatory it isn’t very good.
