Cleansers

Thursday, May 29th, 2003

What are people using to combat their seb derm as well as breakouts? My
pores are clogging tremendously lately and I dont know what to treat first.
If it cleans well its too irritating and if its too emollient then my pores
are loaded with sebum. Any ideas on how to control the oil production? I’ve
tried the green tea thing and stopped after 4 days. I prob didnt give it
enough time but I saw no difference at all. Anyone know if you apply to tea
bag directly or soak cotton balls in the solution and then apply? Do you
rinse off after?

Some good news

Wednesday, May 28th, 2003

Hi,
I tried to post this yesterday, but it looks like it didn’t go
through. Nizoral had been controlling my seb derm for about 6 months,
but became ineffective - of course. My skin became very red, oily,
and tight. I used Protopic for a week and found relief. Then I
started using Protopic and Klaron (10% sodium sulfacetamide) on
alternate days for a week. Now I’m just using Klaron 3 or 4 times a
week and it is keeping the symptoms under control. There is still
some redness, but not at all oily or tight, as it had been. About 3
years ago I used Klaron for 9 months or so and it worked very well. I
hope it works as well this time. If you haven’t tried it, give it a
shot. It’s very easy to apply. I use it at night, but you could
probably use it during the day as well. The small sample bottles last
a long time.
As always, thanks to all of you for your words of encouragement in

I found some help

Tuesday, May 27th, 2003

Hi everyone,

Steroid never helped me. My skin really did get worse when I used it. It
only helped in the beginning of the treatment and seemed great because of
that, but afterwards it was not good at all.
I haven’t used it since January and I am happy to tell you that I found
something much better.
The lotion I put on every morning and evening is ESSEX - a moisturizer
without carbamide. It really have cured me and my skin is normal again. No
problems since about 1 month ago.

Another thing that seems to be excellent for keeping the skin in good
condition is green tea. Thanks a lot for giving advices about this tea. I
use ESSEX and green tea every day - never giving it up though the skin is
clear.

saini herb

Monday, May 26th, 2003

Hello,
I have an extremely flaky scalp and it had been that way for years.
I have finally found a regement which has really cleared things up.
I use aveda all sensitive shampoo and have recently ordered a product
called saini herb. I was hesitant to post because you might think i
am working for the company that makes this product. They say it is
good for hair loss and dandruff. I dont know how good it is for
hairloss, I have been using it for two weeks, but it has done wonders
for my dandruff. It has cleared my dandruff - my scalp still itches a
little but it doesn’t flake. I just wanted to let you and whoever
else know. I ordered a "free" sample - they charge you like $11 for
shipping but it was worth it for me. I hope you find this
information helpful and if you do order please let me know what you
think. I am the only person I know who has ever used it so I’d be
curious to see if it works for just me or others too. I only use it

steroids

Saturday, May 24th, 2003

I’ve been doing research into steroids and i have learnt that the
paranoia associated with them might be more than necessary. I’ve read
that the only possible way steroids could damage the skin is if they
get inside it, it can not damage the skin from outside, and as long
as you only use steroids which are not potent, like maybe, 1%, they
just aren’t going to penetrate. Still like with any medication it’s
best to use them as little as possible.

On another note, apparently seborreic dermatitis comes and goes with
people, has anyone on here had it, then not had it for ages then had
it again?, just curious,

autoimmune

Saturday, May 17th, 2003

is sebderm an autoimmune disorder? I am unsure as to whether it is a
faulty response of our bodies or whether it’s just the fungus
digesting sebum creating a free oxide ? thus the infflamation ? Does
anyone objectively know anything?? I’ve been most distressed the past
couple of days, been getting these headaches and no one seems to post
