Hi everyone,
I just came across this group…it’s good to see I am not alone with
this annoying condition. I was just wondering…has anyone had any
trouble with seborrheic blepharitis, an eyelid condition? I have had
seborrheic dermatitis since age 15 (I am 21 now) and lately my eyes
have been really dry. My doctor mentioned the correlation between
seborrheic dermatitis and this form of dry eye. Apparently excessive
oil plugs glands near the eye and cause evaporation of tears. I
can’t even wear my contacts anymore! Oh well…if anyone has
experienced this let me know. I hope no one has…the skin condition
is awful enough!!!!

I have major dry eyes and pus coming out of them throughout the day–I do
wear contacts and my eye doctor just thought it was bad care of the lenses
that was causing my eye problems–could be but I do take relatively good
care of them
I don’t really get seb derm on my eyelids though, primarliy in and between
the eyebrows and lower forehead–I have often thought about the correlation
becasue when my eyes get really bad, my seb derm does also but the fact that
it does not affect my eyelids has left me confused.
Which brings me to another question for the group–how many of us wear
contacts on a daily basis?? Maybe there is a link between the plastic used
to make contact lenses, the solutions used to store them, etc–who knows but
just a thought
It may be coincidence but when I put in new lenses, my seb derm seems to
subside for a few weeks or longer–not always, but seems like more than just
coincidence
