b-complex vitamins

Thursday, March 13th, 2003

I am newly-diagnosed with sebderm on my face and am looking for low-
side-effect treatments. I ran across some research indicating that
the B-complex vitamins can help adult sebderm, particularly
injections of B-12. Has anyone heard of/tried this? What about
zinc - topical and/or oral?

Q&A from Sunday Times Lifestyle Magazine

Q: My son suffers from scaly patches on his scalp. It looks like
cradle cap, and I have a similar problem. Do you think this is
because we are short of some vitamin or mineral?

L Membridge, Derbyshire

A: Cradle cap in children is a form of seborrhoeic dermatitis, an
inflammatory skin complaint that can also appear on the eyebrows and
eyelids, in and around the ears, around the nose and in the groin
area. It is the result of the sebum-producing oil glands in the scalp
going into overdrive to produce the telltale thick, waxy and yellowy
encrustations, which look itchy, but are not.

As the problem is persistent, what you may be dealing with is a

Ketoconazole & DesOwen

Wednesday, March 12th, 2003

Hello, first time here!

I have spotty sebderm on my mustache line, chin, cheeks, eyebrows, hairline
and sideburns, I went to the doctor for the first time about this and he gave
me Ketoconazole & DesOwen. I guess we were both in a huury that day or
whatever but I forgot to ask how to apply these, what goes on first? second?
do they go on together?

Does shaving frequently seem to help?, how about my hairline? wahts good
for those areas?

Will sebderm encourage hair loss?

Does drinking beer encourage sebderm flareups?

Ozonated Olive Oil

Monday, March 10th, 2003

I’ve started to use ozonated olive oil (OOO) on my face, mainly
the reddish areas, because I’ve been reading about it and
apparently is helpful in many skin disorders, including seb derm.
I don’t know to what extent is helpful (contol? cure?), but I’m
willing to give it a try, since nothing else I’ve tried has worked to
get rid of my problem.

So I applied it two nights ago, and boy, did it sting! I continued
stinging for about an hour. I was surprised at this reaction,
because I’ve applied the OOO to a very raw patch of skin (the
result of a mole removed), and didn’t feel anything.
Yesterday morning I applied it again, and it began to sting
again. So, I contacted the herbalist of the company I bought it
from, and he told me that the stinging was due to the OOO killing
whatever critters are on/under the skin. So, I applied it again last

Can we make Protopic ourselves

Sunday, March 9th, 2003

Protopic is a very good product and yet it could be better.
It is manufactured mainly for eczema sufferers and because
of this it is in a very heavy oil base.It can help a lot of people
with seb derm but it can be more trouble for some.A lot of people
with Rosacea and acne prone skin can have problems with the heavy
oil base of Protopic.Tacrolimus tablets have been available for a
long time so my question is do some of you think that its possible to
mix the powder into a light non oil based cream and end up with the
same product without the shine.

i don’t know if I have rosacea. I honestly believed I did have
rosacea untill I went to the doctor. I try to use as little of the
steriod cream as possiable, the redness in my face is already getting
better but now if i just touch my face in turns red for a bit.

Its been 30 hours and my face feels really weird. After using the
selsun blue my face was so tight i could barly smile, also it seems
really shinny. I hope all this stuff works I really don’t know how
fast results are supose to come..

Anyways thanks for the advise

Wednesday, March 5th, 2003

I’ve heard that Niacin is bad for rosacea sufferers, that it would
actully worsen the condition. Does anyone know how it effects us with
seb derm?
